Angel Tree Shelby Baptist Association

WELCOME—We are glad you joined us today! This morning continues our sermon series: The Good Life. Join us as we celebrate the Baptism of Christi Brown in the 11 am service. LET US PREPARE OUR HEARTS AND MINDS AS WE TAKE COMMUNION TODAY DURING OUR SERVICE.

What do you think of when you think of a mission trip? All of us have a certain picture in our heads. Maybe it’s building a house. Maybe it’s putting on a backyard Bible club. Maybe it’s just working with kids. The problem is that for many of us those pictures aren’t that exciting. And most of them don’t utilize the gifts and abilities we use the other 51 weeks of the year. The good news is that there are a lot more missions opportunities than the ones in our heads, and many of them make use of the very specialized skills that you may have! We want to make use of those skills to help share the name of Jesus Christ. To that end we’re sending out this January our very first medical mission trip! This morning we’ll be hearing from Dr. David and Laurie Vanderpool who run LiveBeyond Ministries in Haiti. David was a successful surgeon who went on a trip just like ours to provide disaster relief in Haiti in 2010. After seeing the devastation he spent more and more time there and ultimately quit his job. David now works full time helping Haitians.

HELP A LOCAL ADOPT AN ANGEL TODAY AT COMMONS CORNER Double Oak has partnered with Shelby Baptist Association to provide Christmas to 100 children in the Shelby County area through the Angel Tree program. Families have gone through a screening process in order to qualify to receive Angel Tree donations. This process provides the Shelby Baptist Association several opportunities to serve the families and share with them the love of Christ, not only during the Christmas season but also throughout the year. For the first two weeks of November, stop by Commons Corner to pick up information about giving a gift to a child this Christmas. All gifts should be dropped off to Commons Corner on or before Sunday, Nov. 20. For more information visit: doubleoakcc.org/angeltree or contact the church office at 995-9752. FIND DETAILS ONLINE: doubleoakcc.org/angeltree NEW COMMUNITY GROUPS STARTING If you have not joined a Community Group at Double Oak we encourage you to take the time to visit several to find the best fit for you.
