Ayah 66 Statement 66 Qala lan orsilahu a. However, as the condition of the family were so dire, Jacob finally gave maAAakum hatta tu/tooni in to his sons' persistence, saying: mawthiqan mina b. 'I shall never send him with you until you give me a solemn pledge in Allahi lata/tunnanee bihi the Name of ALLAH that you will illa an yuhata definitely bring him back to me, unless the worst befalls you and you bikum falamma all, eleven of you, are overwhelmed by atawhu mawthiqahum qala circumstances.' Allahu AAala ma c. When they had given him their naqoolu wakeel solemn pledge, d. he said: 'ALLAH is responsible over what we say in pledge.'

Ayah 67 Waqala ya baniyya la tadkhuloo min babin wahidin waodkhuloo min abwabin mutafarriqatin wama oghnee AAankum mina Allahi min shay-in ini alhukmu illa lillahi AAalayhi tawakkaltu waAAalayhi falyatawakkali almutawakkiloon

Statement 67 a. And Jacob advised his sons: b. 'O my sons! Do not enter the city of Cairo from the same gate, but enter through different gates. c. And while saying so, I can in no way be of any help to you against the Will of ALLAH, if HE wills otherwise. d. Indeed, all decisions rest with no one but ALLAH. e. In HIM I place my trust, and f. in HIM alone place their trust who place their trust.'

Ayah 68 Statement 68 a. And when they entered the city of Walamma Cairo through different gates as their dakhaloo min father had desired them, it did not haythu amarahum benefit them in the least against the aboohum ma kana Will of ALLAH, i.e. it could not avert yughnee anything already destined for them AAanhum mina Allahi min shay-in by ALLAH - they and their father were to suffer severe distress in the illa hajatan fee nafsi yaAAqooba coming days and months. b. It was but a wish in Jacob's mind qadaha wa-innahu lathoo AAilmin that he fulfilled. c. And he was indeed possessor of a lima AAallamnahu walakinna akthara knowledge which WE had given alnnasi la him. yaAAlamoon d. But most people have no understanding and hence do not visualize it.

Ayah 69 Walamma dakhaloo AAala yoosufa awa ilayhi akhahu qala innee ana akhooka fala tabta-is bima kanoo yaAAmaloon

Statement 69 a. And when they presented themselves before Joseph, b. he gave his real brother a place close to himself for a private talk telling him: c. 'Believe me I am your lost real brother. d. Therefore, do not be aggrieved for what they do -' perhaps a signal to the upcoming events of alleged theft and the follow-up in the following Statements.

Statement 70 a. Joseph then devised a plan by which he could detain his younger brother and force other brothers to return to their father without him. b. And when he had given them their grain supplies, he asked his aides to conceal the official measuring bowl in his real brother's camel-pack. c. Once they had done so, it was announced that the official measuring bowl had gone missing. d. Then an announcer called out: - 'O you people of the caravan! - You are definitely thieves!'
Ayah 70 Falamma jahhazahum bijahazihim jaAAala alssiqayata fee rahli akheehi thumma aththana mu-aththinun ayyatuha alAAeeru innakum lasariqoon

Statement 71 a. Turning back towards them, they said: b. 'What is it that you find missing?'
Ayah 71 Qaloo waaqbaloo AAalayhim matha tafqidoon

Statement 72 a. They said: 'We find missing the official measuring bowl.' b. 'Whoever hands it in shall have an extra camel-load of grain as a reward. c. And I am guarantor for this.'

Statement 73 a. They said: 'We swear by ALLAH, you know that we came here to take grain supplies and not to commit any crime in this land, b. and that we are definitely no thieves.' c. They plead their innocence reminding the people that their own family and appearance speak for their character.

Statement 74 a. They, Egyptians, said: b. 'But what shall be the punishment for this misdeed, if you be proved to be liars?'

Thus did WE plan for Joseph to wiAAa-i akheehi detain his real brother. c. He had no right under the king's law kathalika kidna to detain his brother, where the Law liyoosufa ma kana liya/khutha akhahu required that thief pays double the fee deeni almaliki price of the stolen item, but this illa an yashaa ALLAH so willed. d. WE do exalt in grades of knowledge Allahu narfaAAu darajatin man whom WE will, but above every nashao wafawqa person who is endowed with knowledge there is the One WHO is kulli thee AAilmin AAaleem All-Knowing.

Ayah 77 Statement 77 Qaloo in yasriq a. They Joseph's half-brothers said: b. 'If he has stolen, a brother of his too faqad saraqa akhun lahu min had stolen before.' c. Joseph kept his reaction to himself qablu faasarraha yoosufu fee nafsihi and did not reveal it to them, walam yubdiha d. saying within himself: e. 'You are in a far worse position in lahum qala antum moral standing, and ALLAH knows sharrun makanan waAllahu best what you allege,' i.e. what you aAAlamu bima attribute to Joseph and Benjamin. tasifoon

Statement 78 Ayah 78 a. They further appeal to his kindness Qaloo ya ayyuha and compassion and said: alAAazeezu inna b. 'O Aziz! lahu aban c. He has a father who is very old. shaykhan kabeeran d. So take one of us in his place, fakhuth ahadana e. for we see that you are indeed a kind- makanahu inna hearted person.' naraka mina almuhsineen

Statement 79 a. He answered: 'ALLAH forbid that we should take any other than the person with whom we found our items, b. for then we would be unjust and wrongdoers.'
Ayah 79 Qala maAAatha Allahi an na/khutha illa man wajadna mataAAana AAindahu inna ithan lathalimoon

Statement 80 a. When they had despaired and lost all hope of moving him, they withdrew to begin consultations among themselves. b. The eldest of them said: c. 'Do you not recall that your father took from you a solemn pledge in the Name of ALLAH, d. and before that you were at fault with respect to Joseph? e. So, I shall not move from this place until my father permits me or else ALLAH decides about me. f. And HE is certainly the best of ones who judge.'
Ayah 80 Falamma istayasoo minhu khalasoo najiyyan qala kabeeruhum alam taAAlamoo anna abakum qad akhatha AAalaykum mawthiqan mina Allahi wamin qablu ma farrattum fee yoosufa falan abraha al-arda hatta ya/thana lee abee aw yahkuma Allahu lee wahuwa khayru alhakimeen

Statement 81 a. The eldest of them continued: b. So go back to your father and tell him: c. 'O our father, undoubtedly your son Benjamin has stolen. d. We merely bear witness and testify only to that which we know for sure. e. And we could not have been guardians over the unforeseen.
Ayah 81 IrjiAAoo ila abeekum faqooloo ya abana inna ibnaka saraqa wama shahidna illa bima AAalimna wama kunna lilghaybi hafitheen

Statement 82 a. And you may ask the people of the city where we were, and the caravan with which we travelled, b. for certainly we are truthful.'
Ayah 82 Wais-ali alqaryata allatee kunna feeha waalAAeera allatee aqbalna feeha wa-inna lasadiqoon

Statement 83 a. Their father was upset. b. He said: 'No. You have been enticed by your souls to something evil. c. These were his very words when he lost Joseph. While rejecting their statement, the prophetic knowledge revealed that there was neither a theft nor Benjamin arrested, and the truth of the matter was to be found elsewhere in due course. d. So patience is best remedy in the circumstances! e. It may well be that ALLAH brings them all back to me. f. Indeed, it is HE WHO is allKnowing and all-Wise.'
Ayah 83 Qala bal sawwalat lakum anfusukum amran fasabrun jameelun AAasa Allahu an ya/tiyanee bihim jameeAAan innahu huwa alAAaleemu alhakeem

Statement 84 a. And he turned away his face from them and said: b. 'How grieved I am over Joseph!' c. And his eyes whitened with burden of silent anguish and grief that was chocking him, and he restrained himself as he felt that his tragedy was all his own.

Statement 85 a. The sons did not show any compassion but snubbed their father: ‘By ALLAH! You shall ever continue remembering Joseph, b. until you ruin your health and be of the ones who collapse or perish.'

Statement 86 a. Sorrowfully he said: 'I do not complain to you or to anyone else. It is only to ALLAH that I complain of my anguish and grief. b. For I know from ALLAH what you do not know.

Statement 87 a. Joseph's father continued: b. O my sons! c. Go off and seek news of or search for Joseph and his brother; d. and do not despair of ALLAH's mercy; e. for, in fact, no one but disbelievers despair of ALLAH's mercy.'

Ayah 88 Statement 88 a. And the direction in which the Falamma dakhaloo AAalayhi qaloo ya search was to be made was turned ayyuha towards nowhere but Egypt itself which was known and definite in the alAAazeezu massana waahlana case of youngest brother. Thus Joseph's brothers returned to Egypt alddurru waji/na bibidaAAatin for a third time. b. Dejected and miserable. they went muzjatin faawfi lana alkayla to see Joseph. watasaddaq c. They said to him: AAalayna inna d. 'O Aziz! e. Harm and distress has befallen us Allaha yajzee almutasaddiqeen and our family, f. and so we come to you with inferior and a little goods to barter for grain. g. So please give us our full measure of grain, and be charitable to us, i.e. while they had no right to claim camel-load of grain, they pleaded that grain should be given to them as if given in charity. h. Indeed ALLAH rewards those who are kind and charitable.' Statement 89 a. At this point in time Joseph decided to reveal his real identity and spoke to them sternly and effectively: b. 'Do you recall what you recklessly did to Joseph and his brother, when you were wild and ignorant?'

Ayah 90 Statement 90 a. Only then it dawned on them that he Qaloo a-innaka laanta yoosufa might be Joseph. qala ana yoosufu b. Shocked and dumbfounded they wahatha akhee qad immediately asked: 'What - is that manna Allahu really you, Joseph?' Their minds, hearts, eyes and ears could now see AAalayna innahu man yattaqi traces of little Joseph in the man wayasbir fa-inna talking to them. Allaha la c. He responded: 'I am Joseph, and yudeeAAu ajra this is my brother. d. ALLAH has indeed been gracious almuhsineen to us. e. Indeed, the one who remains pious, ALLAH-reverent and patient in adversity, ALLAH will never waste the reward for those who are good and virtuous.'

Ayah 91 Statement 91 a. Now they were left with no choice Qaloo taAllahi but to confess the wrongs they had laqad atharaka done and admit the grace and Allahu AAalayna superiority of Joseph. So, in one voice, wa-in kunna they all said: lakhati-een b. 'By ALLAH! c. Most certainly ALLAH has exalted you and held you in greater favor above us all, and d. indeed we have been guilty and sinful.'

Statement 92 a. He responded with magnanimity: 'No blame on you this day, i.e. you are free of all blame of being guilty, and sinful. b. May ALLAH forgive you. c. And HE is indeed the Most Merciful of all those who are merciful.

Statement 96 a. But when the bearer of good news arrived with Joseph's shirt, he laid it over his face; and thereupon he regained his eyesight. b. He said: 'Did I not tell you that I truly know from ALLAH something that you do not know!?'

The whole family of Jacob moved Falamma dakhaloo from Palestine to Egypt - their number AAala yoosufa varies from seventy two to ninety three awa ilayhi abawayhi waqala men and women, young and old. b. When they all presented themselves odkhuloo misra in shaa Allahu before Joseph, amineen c. he drew his parents to himself, embraced them and said: d. 'Enter Egypt, with the Grace of ALLAH, safe and sound!'

Statement 100 a. And he exalted his parents to the highest place of honor, i.e. on the royal bench b. and they fell down on their knees, bowing themselves in respectful adoration before him; if it is taken to mean 'prostrating' before him, it is inconceivable that Prophet Joseph would have allowed his parents father being a prophet too - to prostrate themselves before himself. c. And he said: d. ‘O my father! e. This is the real meaning, interpretation and fulfillment of my dream of long time ago: the sun and the moon and eleven stars are prostrating to me; f. My RABB – Lord Supreme has now made it a reality. g. HE has been gracious to me, releasing me from the prison, and bringing you all from the countryside after Satan had sown discord and enmity between me and between my half-brothers. h. Truly my RABB – Lord Supreme is gracious in whatever way HE wishes. i. Indeed, HE is all-Knowing and all-Wise.' j. Joseph's dream thus came true after numerous years.

Ayah 101 Statement 101 Rabbi qad a. 'O my RABB – Lord Supreme! b. Surely YOU have given me power ataytanee mina and imparted to me understanding almulki waAAallamtanee and interpretation of dreams and min ta/weeli alevents. c. O Originator of the cosmos, the ahadeethi fatira alssamawati waalspace and the earth! ardi anta waliyyee d. YOU are my Protector in this fee alddunya waalworld and in the life after death. e. Let me die as a Muslim – the one akhirati tawaffanee musliman who has submitted oneself only to waalhiqnee YOU, and f. cause me to join the company of bialssaliheen the righteous and virtuous.'

Statement 102 a. Having related these parts of Joseph's biography, ALLAH turns to address Prophet Muhammad, ALLAH bless him always. b. That is a part of the account which WE have now revealed to you speaking of things that have been unseen and beyond your information and knowledge. c. And you were not in their presence when they i.e. Joseph's brothers conceived their devious plans and plotted against him. d. The Qur'an thus confirms that Prophet Muhammad's knowledge and source of information of all such matters comes only from ALLAH.
Ayah 102 Thalika min anba-i alghaybi nooheehi ilayka wama kunta ladayhim ith ajmaAAoo amrahum wahum yamkuroon

Statement 104 a. And you ask them for no reward and no recompense for it, i.e. good counsel and warnings against all forms of disobedience and blasphemy against the divinity of One ALLAH. b. It is - the Qur'an - but a Remembrance to all humankind.

Statement 105 a. Yet many are the marvels and miraculous signs in the cosmos, the space and the earth which they pass by; b. And to which they turn aside and pay no heed.

Statement 106 a. And most of them do not even believe in One ALLAH without associating partners in divinity with HIM and are polytheists.

Statement 107 a. Are they sure that ALLAH's overwhelming event of the punishment will not fall upon them, b. or that the Last Hour, i.e. time of their death, will not come upon them suddenly while they are unaware?
Ayah 107 Afaaminoo an ta/tiyahum ghashiyatun min AAathabi Allahi aw ta/tiyahumu alssaAAatu baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroon

Ayah 108 Statement 108 a. Say: 'This is my way; I call all Qul hathihi humankind to One ALLAH. sabeelee adAAoo b. I and all those men and women, ila Allahi AAala young and old who follow me have a baseeratin ana definite and clear perception of what is wamani our faith and what is our destiny. ittabaAAanee wasubhana Allahi c. And glory be to ALLAH. d. And I am not one of the ones who wama ana mina associate others in divinity with HIM almushrikeen polytheists.'

Ayah 109 Statement 109 Wama arsalna min a. And even before your time O Prophet Muhammad, WE only sent as qablika illa rijalan Messengers those men to whom WE noohee ilayhim gave OUR revelations, choosing the min ahli alqura afalam yaseeroo best in virtue from among their fee al-ardi people. b. Have they not travelled the land and fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu noticed the Ultimate End of those disbelievers who lived before them? allatheena min c. And better indeed is the life to come qablihim waladaru al-akhirati khayrun after death for those who remain lillatheena ittaqaw pious and ALLAH-reverent. afala taAAqiloon d. Will you not, then, reflect? i.e. continue to prefer the short-lived comfort of the present life over the everlasting comforts of the life after death.

Ayah 110 Statement 110 a. When at length the Messengers lost Hatta itha istay-asa alrrusulu all hope that the truth will not wathannoo manifest itself in the manner and at annahum qad the time they had hoped for, and kuthiboo jaahum thought that they were denied, ridiculed and being branded as liars, nasruna fanujjiya b. it was in this state of despair that man nashao wala yuraddu ba/suna OUR help came to them, the punishment on disbelievers came as AAani alqawmi almujrimeen promised, then whoever WE willed was saved. c. And OUR punishment cannot be averted from a people who are wicked, guilty and sinful regardless of time and space, the wicked and guilty should not be in any doubt about the delay in their punishment.

Ayah 111 Statement 111 Laqad kana fee a.
