Today we’re going to talk about Connie Chung ...in just a minute. Connie Chung was born on August 20, 1946 as Constance Yu-hwa Chung. In 1969, she earned her journalism degree from University of Maryland. She got her first job with WTTG-TV, and later at CBS' Washington bureau. Connie has worked with many important networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and MSNBC. She moved to Los Angeles in 1976 and helped the KNXT station improve, and switched stations to NBC before returning to CBS. She became co-anchor of ‘CBS Evening News’ on June 1, 1993, becoming the first Asian American and second woman to do so. This was a great achievement at the time. In 2002, she hosted her own show, ‘Connie Chung Tonight’ on CNN. Connie earned three Emmy awards, a Peabody, an Ohio State award, the National Headliner award and other awards for the work that she did. Eventually, Connie married Maury Povich, who co-hosted ‘Weekends with Maury and Connie’ on MSNBC with her. Now, Connie Chung is a household name and in the Asian Hall of Fame, for the achievements she has attained. When you grow up, would you want to be a journalist like Connie Chung?
