INTRODUCTION The Faculty of Accountancy, being one of the earliest faculties in UiTM, has journeyed through more than 50 years and matured into a faculty that has managed to make its presence felt through varwwious mediums. Our journey has proceeded from ealrly diploma courses to encompassing postgraduate, professional and undergraduates programs. Our academics have also become alliances with

local and overseas universities as well as professional bodies. With the first LCCI programme introduced in 1956, Faculty of Accountancy have grown to be the leader in Accounting Education with various academic and professional programmes such as Diploma in Accountancy, Diploma in Accounting Information Systems, Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, Master, Master in Corporate Governance,

PhD Accounting, CAT, ACCA, CIMA, CPA Australia, MICPA etc. Following the evolvement of the faculty is the establishment of Accounting Research Institute (ARI) in 2005 to coordinate research-related activities

three Malaysian universities awarded Tier 1 Status by CIMA Three Malaysian academic institutions have been awarded Tier 1 status by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) to enhance the employability of its students. CIMA signed a

memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), relating to this new status. Several other institutions will

be awarded the same status in the future. CIMA Education executive director and MoU signatory Dr. Noel Tagoe, spoke of providing required skills for graduates in employment.

CONTRIBUTION & RECOGNITION Khalid Bin Kamarulzaman make us proud for Another Sterling Performance! Khalid bin Kamarulzaman has been exceptionally outstanding in his achievement during the Certified Ac c o u n t i n g Technician (CAT) professional examination. He

has secured top-most placing in the world, thus assuming the position of World Best CAT Graduate in 2010. In his latest achievement in the professional exam for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

program for June 2012 sitting, Khalid bin Kamarulzaman has secured No 1 Placing for Top Affiliates/ graduates in Malaysia.

HISTORY OF HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The Shah Alam campus was operational in 1970 and the School moved to Level 9 and 10 of the Multi Storey building. In 1978, the Malaysian Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) was introduced. Another important programme, the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADIA) was offered for the first time in 1981.

1the9establishment 56 The first accountancy programme was introduced in 1956 with the establishment of RIDA College in Jalan Othman, Petaling Jaya, inspired by Dato’ Onn Jaffar. As a governmentagency, it served to alleviate the socioeconomic status of rural Bumiputeras

by providing training and educational opportunities. The programme introduced was the London Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) .

Student association is crucial to be established as to build concreate confidence for student in leading. In UiTM Puncak Alam there are four main student association that student can join.

THE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING STUDENTS (APACS)

APAcS is one of the four students association registered with UiTM, under the Faculty of Accountancy. We manage professional accounting students which the professional bodies vary from ACCA, CIMA and MICPA.

4 AFTAS is established to act as a representative of fast track accounting students of UiTM. It lies among the internal associations of Faculty of Accountancy; APAcS, ABACCS. Coursework Programmes AC 700 Master of Forensic Accounting & Financial Criminology The programme aims at producing graduates with a broad-based introduction to the nature and purpose of forensic accounting. Graduates are exposed to courses well beyond a ‘legal’ focus and provide an

opportunity to study skills in investigative techniques and the collection of data as well as the skills necessary to not only identify poor management but also unethical and fraudulent activities.

(CIMA) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). In line with the government’s aspiration to increase the number of Bumiputera’ Professional Accountants the MSMA program
