Attending Group Fitness is ABSOLUTLY FREE! To take Group Fitness classes, you must first obtain a class pass. How? After entering the Activity Zone, go upstairs to the Fitness Zone Help Desk. Complete the required liability waiver once per year. You will receive a Group Fitness key tag; this is your class pass. Keep it with you whenever you come to a Group Fitness class. Present your class pass to the attendant at the door before the class begins. Space in class is limited, arrive 5-10 minutes early to secure a spot.

Guidelines and Eligibility Trainer requests can be made online or at the Fitness Zone Help Desk. Clients must be current UH students and CRWC members. All sessions will be conducted on the University of Houston grounds. Sessions will be a maximum of 60 minutes in length. Cancellations must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Clients are required to have their Cougar card to enter the facility. Personal training sessions are nontransferable and nonrefundable. Please check online for a complete list of the guidelines and policies.
CLASSES DESCRIPTIONS ABS for Lunch/ABSolution: There’s not time to waste in this 20-30 minute assault on your abdominal and core muscles. Aqua Zumba®: Dive in to the hottest wave in fitness – taking the Zumba experience to the pool! No swimming ability is required for this shallow water class. Ashtanga Yoga: Ashtanga yoga is a 5,000 year old sequence of postures designed to bring strength, flexibility, and endurance to the body and stillness to the mind. Ashtanga yoga emphasizes ujjayi breathing, energy locks, and vinyasas to evoke higher Intensity and mind/body connections. Ballet Barre: Strengthen and lengthen like a dancer – this class is inspired by traditional ballet and focuses on developing grace, flexibility, and strength. Beginners’ Yoga: Ease into a yoga practice with this easy-to-follow progression of poses specifically designed with the beginner in mind. Class will progress through the semester, teaching more advanced skills once you’ve mastered the basics. Booty Barre: Strengthen and tone your lower body with this fun, barre-based fitness format. Buns N’ Guns: Toned arms and legs put the finishing touches on a svelte physique. This class includes arm and leg exercises with a focus on the shoulders and the glute. CSI Circuit Strength Intervals: Start your morning with a weighttraining workout at your intensity level. An enthusiastic instructor guides you through our Life Fitness line of selectorized equipment and provides cardio-intervals for extra calorie burn. This class will meet at the Fitness Zone Help Desk. Cycle Interval: Intense intervals incorporating sprints, hills, jumps, and flats are used to extend the rider’s anaerobic threshold, increasing VO2max and overall lactate tolerance. Glute Camp: Strong glutes can improve posture, ease back pain and strengthen your stride. They can also stop traffic. This 30-minute class will focus on the strength and power of your derriere. Hula Hoop Fit®: Who said working out had to be boring? Rekindle the childhood joy of hula-hooping while your adult-self builds endurance and strength. Hydrobics: Lose the impact of your workout, not the intensity. This shallow water class will challenge your cardiovascular fitness and develop total-body strength and coordination. Swimming ability is not required. Insanity®: Made popular by the DVD series, Insanity uses MAX interval training, alternating short periods of rest with long, intense work intervals. Latin Social Dance: Learn and practice the moves to some spicy Latin rhythms. Prepare yourself to hit the dance floor this weekend! Masala Bhangra®: This complete cardiovascular workout blends traditional Bhangra dance with the excitement of Bollywood films. Outdoor Boocamp: No guts, no glory in this high-intensity outdoor workout. Use your body weight and gravity to challenge your limits. Class will meet at the track behind the rec, near the natatorium annex.
Pilates: Mat-based Pilates activates the deep and superficial abdominal muscles to increase core strength and stabilization for better movement control. PiYo Live™: This strength and mind-body fusion class incorporates shorts bursts of cardiovascular and strength training for all-over body conditioning. Traditional Pilates and Yoga are combined with dynamic balance, dance conditioning, plyometrics, and functional training. Rhythm Ride: Let the rhythm of the music motivate you to push harder. This interval-based cycling class times drills to correspond with the beat and flow of the music for a better workout and healthy dose of endorphins. Ride and Shine: Start your day with the pedal to the metal. You’ll leave this 45-minute cycling class feeling awake and ready for the day! Step It Up: It’s back to basics in this no-frills workout. Stair running increases cardiovascular fitness, lower body strength, and builds a better booty to boot! SUP Yoga: Make a splash by taking your yoga workout into the pool on a Stand-Up Paddle Board! No yoga experience is required but some swimming ability is recommended. Total Body MAX: Burn fat, sculpt muscle, and become a better athlete with this conditioning class that combines total body strength and cardio intervals for overall fitness. TurboKick®: TurboKick is a combination of intense kickboxing moves combined with dance, perfectly choreographed to the high -energy music. Yoga: Yoga is the practice of moving through asanas or postures often practiced alone for fitness or combined with meditation to calm and center the mind. This practice is beneficial for reducing stress and anxiety as well as building strength and flexibility. Zumba Step®: The popular Latin-dance fitness craze gets elevated by incorporating the use of a 4-8 inch platform to further tone the legs and gluteus. Zumba®: Zumba is the Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow dance-fitness party that will change the way you think about exercise. This cardiovascular workout will make you sweat as you boogie to the beats of international rhythms.
