OUR VALUES AS ONE We are stronger as a company when working together as one team. We believe in the power of collaboration; working in unison and sharing strengths with our partners, suppliers and clients. A common focus gets better results; everyone benefits and we create successful lasting partnerships. PASSIONATE We genuinely get a buzz out of what we do. That’s why we’re in the business. It’s how we engage, excite and lead others in a project team. It’s how we motivate and push for the best outcomes. IMPRESSIVE In all that we do, we seek to impress. We aim to set standards of excellence with our professionalism, the quality of our thinking and with our delivery. At the start of each project, we ask “What difference can we make on this job?” CERTAINTY We deliver on expectations. On budget. On time. Every time. And to the desired standard. With us, that is a given. We are independent. Our reputation is for 100% reliability.

“Project success requires talented individuals with a common goal - great communication and leadership is essential.” DALLAS BATES PROJECT DIRECTOR | BAY OF PLENTY/WAIKATO

OUR HISTORY Our story began 30 years ago when Dave Mann got his idea for an independent project management consultancy off the ground. A two-man operation was a humble beginning, but a strong foundation for what was to come. 30 years later, our company is still proudly New Zealand owned and operated, the people that own the business work in the business and we’ve grown to be one of New Zealand’s largest and longest established independent project management consultancies. Along the way we had a big eureka moment, creating and cementing a new name, brand, values and reputation as The Building Intelligence Group in 2006. That launch was a game changer. The values we established still resonate as strongly as ever with us today: As One, Passionate, Impressive and Certainty. And our business cards, which you can lock together to build towers with, are still a great talking point with our clients. Now in our 30th year, we’ve grown to be a national business with 70+ project management professionals supported by a Corporate Services Team. We grew up as a business in Wellington and Auckland, and now we’ve got a big reputation for delivering project success and strong thinking for clients across New Zealand from our offices which now include Christchurch, Tauranga, Napier, Nelson, Dunedin and Invercargill.

We enjoy the journey

We were the first project management company in New Zealand to earn ISO 9001: 2015 Certification for the quality of our systems and processes. We know our success is due to the passionate and talented people we have on our team. We build lasting and trusted relationships with our clients. Most simply call us TBIG.

“I like the real diversity of project experiences that comes from a wide portfolio of clients.”

IN THEIR WORDS We attract some of the best people in the industry, from graduates getting a start in the property industry, to project managers seeking us out for bigger and more diverse project experiences. It’s not what we say about ourselves that matters, it’s what our people say about us.

“TBIG told me I would get fantastic learning opportunities working with their experts. That’s exactly what I’ve had, with increasing responsibility in a supportive environment.” Milly McArthur Graduate, Assistant Project Manager.

“Balance, flexibility and exclusiveness really matter at TBIG. The Cooper Challenge helps TBIG employees take on something they are passionate about.” Gaye Domanski Communications Manager

“Graduates are passionate advocates for our culture and values and TBIG were Runner Up at the Property Graduate Employer of the Year Awards 2018 for the University of Auckland.” Brent Thomson Auckland Business Manager

“Project Directors are strong mentors, providing constant support and professional development.” Vicky Inger Assistant Project Manager

Annarose Smith Project Manager

OUR TEAM OUR CLIENTS KNOW THE REAL MAGIC IS IN THE PEOPLE THAT WE TRUST TO PUT AT THE FRONT OF THEIR PROJECT. We’ve always said our people are our future. You are joining a national team of talented people who are strong thinkers, highly respected and sector experts in their particular niche. We have 70+ project management professionals across eight offices and they are supported by our National Corporate Services team. We’re proud of our regional footprint which has grown to reflect our national strategy of putting experts on the ground to support our clients across the country. TBIG has offices in Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill. We have a strong growth path for employees, many have started as graduates or Assistant Project Managers and gone on a wellsupported journey to rise through our ranks. We promote success and are proud of the many people who have earned promotions and taken the next step up in their career.

We’re exceptionally proud of our Employee Shareholding scheme which sees invited individuals share in the rewards and success of our business. We currently have 16 Employee Shareholders, complementing our major shareholders who are Ian Macaskill, Dave Mann, Brent Thomsen, Ian Smith and Byron Roff. We believe no other project management company places the emphasis that we do on leadership. We have an exceptionally deep Project Director led structure to lead and mentor teams and they encourage continued professional development. TBIG has an exceptional reputation in the industry. Our people make the difference.

WE’VE BEEN BUSY...

NORTHERN While Auckland city is our anchor point, we have a big presence from Whangarei to Gisborne. Auckland Business Manager and Director Brent Thomsen leads our Northern team. In his words, great projects are about the people that make them happen, the people that will live and work in them and the contribution they make to our cities and towns.

CENTRAL Wellington Business Manager Byron Roff was a TBIG client and liked what he saw. Taking up the reins as Wellington Business Manager in 2015, Byron has built an exceptional central team who work on projects from Napier to Wellington and Nelson. While we love Government projects, we’re all about opening doors on key projects in all sectors.

SOUTHERN Our southern story keeps getting bigger. After being highly active in the Christchurch rebuild, expanding our services to the lower South Island has been a key focus for Ian Smith, our South Island Business Manager and Project Director Tess Browne. They’ve really put TBIG on the map with new offices in Invercargill and Dunedin.

CULTURE CLUB We bring all newcomers together into a special Culture Club day to absorb our values, to hear our TBIG story and where we’re going. It’s a great chance to meet new faces, to feel a part of the bigger TBIG picture, and to connect with the host team in the city we choose. We always throw in a great team activity; we’ve scaled the heights of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, we’ve tackled Axe Throwing and put the foot to the metal in Grand Prix Car racing.

WELLBEING We emphasise a work balance for our people through several great initiatives: •

The Cooper Challenge personal development fund; enables people to pursue a new goal, dream or activity.

Spring Challenge; we get people moving in a fun positive challenge to promote physical and mental wellbeing.

Team Events; we’re out there doing it! Relay for Life, McLeans Island Cycyle Race, Ronal McDonald House volunteering and more.

EAP Works; a self-referral confidential support service for life’s tough times.

Watch this space.

Welcome to the team
