INTRODUCTION This book provides a glimpse of distinctive achievements and accomplishments of King Hamad University Hospital administrative and medical team. It reflects the continuous success of the hospital as an integrated medical and educational edifice. King Hamad University Hospital is considered one of the most important medical and scientific research institutions, in-line with international standards. It provides first class healthcare services to all citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in addition to being the most prestigious medical research center.

King Hamad University Hospital is one of the important and vital medical edifices in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It provides a variety of distinguished services in all medical fields, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership. It is our foremost aim to provide the best integrated and unique health and treatment services to all citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Accordingly, during the past year, 2020, we were all faced with the health crisis that swept across the world. Our front-line workers are our best example of providing efficient and distinguished health and treatment services. Evidently sourcing from our medical/healthcare statistics this book, highlight that we at King Hamad University Hospital and Bahrain Oncology Center, have worked ccontinuously hard to provide all medical services to all citizens and residents, and in accordance to the precautionary measures set by the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus . The management of King Hamad University Hospital and the Bahrain Oncology Center has also taken necessary measures towards strengthening the efforts to contain the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) and limit its spread through preventive measures taken within the hospital and the center to ensure maintain the health and safety of everyone, including the medical and nursing staff in the hospital. King Hamad University Hospital has

participated in the front lines by providing full medical coverage in terms of equipment and capabilities and allocating integrated medical and nursing staff in some isolation centers. Concurrently, the hospital administration continued during the past year 2020, with achievements and implementing development projects, for example: the solar energy project that is based on installing solar panels to produce electrical energy that can be used to provide part of the hospital’s electrical consumption, updating the mammogram device for Mammomat Revelation,performing many complex operations, treating patients with stroke, commissioning an additional intensive care unit, designing and implementing the IVF unit, installing a new PET-MR technology, and many other accomplishments. Notwithstanding the pandemic, training for medical, technical and administrative staff still continues, with all the precautions and preventive measures taken with the aim of continuous professional development that would further develop their knowledge and skills in their respective fields to ensure the continued provision of the best health care to patients. In conclusion, these efforts were made to ensure the achievement of the best medical and health services, and we wish that our success will continue to march our development, progress and growth. 2020 ‫التقرير السنوي‬

‫الكاملــة مــن معــداتف وإمكانيــات‪ ،‬وتخصيــص طاقــم ط ـب ي‬ ‫ض‬ ‫ـ� متكامــل ي� بعــد مراكــز العــزل‪.‬‬ ‫وتمريـ ي‬ ‫ومــن جهــة أخــرى اســتمرت إدارة المستش ـىف خــال العــام‬ ‫ف‬ ‫المنــرم ‪ 2020‬ي� تحقيــق اإلنجــازات وتنفيــذ المشــاريـ ـ ـع‬ ‫التطويريــة‪ ،‬وعــى ســبيل المثــال‪ ،‬مـ شـروع الطاقــة الشمســية‬ ‫الــذي يقــوم عــى تركيــب ألــواح شمســية تنتــج طاقــة‬ ‫كهربائيــة يســتفاد منهــا لتشــغيل جــزء مــن االســتهالك‬ ‫ئ‬ ‫ـا� للمستش ـىف ‪ ،‬وتحد يــث جهــاز الماموج ـرام‬ ‫الكهربـ ي‬ ‫‪ ،)Mammomat‬وإج ـراء العديــد مــن‬ ‫(‪،)Mammomat Revelation‬‬ ‫ل ـ (‪Revelation‬‬ ‫العمليــات المعقــدة‪ ،‬وعــاج حــاالت الجلطــات الدماغيــة‪،‬‬ ‫تدشـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� وحــدة إضافيــة للعنايــة المركــزة و تصميــم وتنفيــذ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫بمستش� الملك حمد‬ ‫وحدة اإلخصاب وأطفال األنابيب‬ ‫وغ�ها العديد‬ ‫(‪)PET MR‬‬ ‫الجامع‪ ،‬تركيب جهاز (‪MR‬‬ ‫‪ )PET‬الجديد ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫مــن اإلنجــازات‪.‬‬ ‫ويجــدر بالذكــر أنــه بالرغــم مــن الظــروف الصحيــة فــإن‬ ‫التدريــب للطواقــم الطبيــة والفنيــة واإلداريــة مــازال مســتمرا‬ ‫مــع اتخــاذ كافــة االحـ تـرازات والتدابـ يـر الوقائيــة وذلــك بهــدف‬ ‫التطويــر المه ـن ي المســتمر والـ ت يـ� مــن شــأنه إث ـراء المعرفــة‬ ‫ف‬ ‫لديهــم وصقــل مهاراتهــم ي� مجــاالت تخصصهــم حرصــا‬ ‫عــى اســتمرار توفـ يـر أفضــل رعايــة صحيــة للمـ ض‬ ‫ـر�‪.‬‬ ‫وختامــا‪ ،‬لــم تتــم هــذه الجهــود إال لضمــان تحقيــق أفضــل‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الخدمــات الطبيــة والصحيــة‪ ،‬داعـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� المــوىل أن يوفقنــا ي�‬ ‫مواصلــة مسـ يـرة التطويــر والتقــدم والنمــو‪.‬‬

‫تدش� جهاز المرسع الخط المدمج بالر ي ن‬ ‫ي ن‬ �‫ن‬ ‫)) ف ي� مركز البحرين لألورام بعد أن تم االتفاق فيما‬MR-Linac, Unity ‫المغناطيس‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫يعت� ثورة تكنولوجية ونقله نوعية ف ي� مجال عالج األورام الرسطانية‬ ‫) عىل ش�اءه وتوريده للمركز وهو ب‬ELEKTA( ‫سبق مع ش�كة‬ ‫وسيل� حاجات ض‬ .�‫العر‬ ‫مر� حاالت األورام ف ي� منطقة الخليج‬ ‫بي‬ ‫بي‬ ‫)) يمكن تصوير الورم بالر ي ن‬MR– Linac, Unity ‫ومن خالل استخدام جهاز‬ ‫المغناطيس بشكل مستمر أثناء تقديم العالج‬ �‫ن‬ ‫ي‬ ً ‫ حيث يستهدف الورم بشكل ث‬،‫ال� يمكن أن تحدث ف� حجمه‬ ‫ت‬ ‫اإلشعاع مما يسمح بتتبع‬ ‫أك� تحديدا مع الحفاظ بنفس‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫التغي�ات ي‬ ‫ي‬ .‫الوقت عىل األنسجة السليمة المحيطة به مما يمكن من القضاء عىل الورم بشكل أرسع وأدق‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ ) ف� ش‬MR-Linac ( ‫الثا� عربيا الذي يتم فيه استخدام هذه التقنية‬ ،‫ال�ق األوسط‬ ‫والجدير بالذكر أن مركز البحرين لألورام ب‬ ‫يعت� ي‬ ‫ًي‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ت‬ ‫إىل جانب ي ن‬ .‫الال� تم تدشينهما سابقا‬ ‫المقطع‬ ‫ال� تعتمد عىل تقنية التصوير‬ ‫ي‬ ‫إثن� من أحدث المرسعات الخطية ي‬ ‫ي‬ Inauguration of the Integrated (MR-Linac, Unity) device at the Bahrain Oncology Center, after it had been previously agreed with (ELEKTA) to get and provide it to the center. it is considered a technological revolution within the field of cancer treatment and can meet the requirements of patients with oncology cases within the Arab Gulf region.And through the utilization of the MR- Linac, Unity) the tumor are often continuously imaged with MRI during the procedure of radiotherapy, allowing to trace changes which will occur in its size, because it targets the tumor more specifically while preserving the healthy tissue surrounding it than it can eliminate the tumor faster and more accurately It is worth noting that the Bahrain Oncology Center is the second Arab center during which this technology (MR-Linac) is employed within the Middle east, additionally to 2 of the newest linear accelerators that rely on tomography technology have been launched previously.

A surgical medical team at King Hamad University Hospital managed to remove an outsized, massive tumor (sarcoma) through a delicate surgical procedure. The medical team consisting of Dr. Hisham Bakri, Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgery , Dr. Mohamed Rafi, consultant urologist and Dr. Rani Al-Moataz Billah Al-Agha, consultant vascular surgeon, and the medical assistant team for them, performed the entire tumor removal operation, as the operation took About four hours and it had been crowned successfully and with none complications. The patient recovered some days after the operation, with continuous follow-up at the Bahrain Oncology Center.

In order that the medical staff professionally started a treatment plan to deal with this type of severe injury, during which they were subjected to a series of surgeries that spanned over fifteen days, under the supervision of Dr. Talal Al-Mayman, a neurosurgeon and his medical team at King Hamad University Hospital. The patient was discharged from the hospital healthy with no possible health complications after the violent injury he suffered.

Saving the life of a throat cancer patient at King Hamad University Hospital by performing 3 specific and sophisticated surgeries A medical team at King Hamad University Hospital was able to save the life of a patient in his fifties who was affected by throat cancer, by performing 3 complex and qualitative surgeries. The patient was treated with chemotherapy and radiation several years ago in a hospital, and he received the appropriate treatment that he was supposed to undergo, but after two years, the patient’s condition relapsed, during which case he had to remove the larynx and clean the lymph nodes in the neck. Dr. Omar Sabra, a consultant ENT who specializes in ear and head and neck surgery, removed the larynx and lymph nodes by “scraping the neck”, “the technical name for the operation”, a month after the operation, after ensuring that the tissues were healed, and the patient ate food from the mouth properly. Normal, the patient returned to the hospital a results of bleeding from the mouth, due to the explosion of the arteria carotid that goes to the brain, which was caused by tissue weakness after surgeries following radiotherapy, because it has been scientifically proven that when surgery is performed after the patient undergoes chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the tissues are very weak, and healing, and thus the tissues began to open and therefore the artery burst, and the patient lost approximately 75% of his blood within a really few hours.” He noted that “the patient underwent about 3 specific surgeries, the primary was a curative surgery to remove the larynx and scrape the performed by Dr. Omar Sabra, and therefore the second operation was through an urgent catheterization to block the bleeding from the artery where the bleeding was completely controlled, and the surgery took About an hour, it has been performed by Dr. Wael Ibrahim, a consultant in diagnostic and interventional radiology, and the third operation, which was performed by Dr. Omar Sabra with Dr. Moamen AlBashir, a visiting surgeon from abroad. The inflamed skin area was removed, and the neck was restored, where it fully recovered with none complications or without Cancerous tumor recurring

‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫اح جديد‬ ‫استئصال ورم‬ ‫رسطا� من الغدة الدرقية لمريض ي� إنجاز جر ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الجامع‬ ‫لمستش� الملك حمد‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫مستش� الملك حمد الجامع ف� إجراء عملية جراحية دقيقة ش‬ ‫اح ف ي�‬ ‫بإ�اف الدكتور هشام عبد الكريم بكري‬ ‫ط� جر ي‬ ‫ي ي‬ ‫نجح فريق ب ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ن‬ ‫الهضم لمريض‬ ‫المناظ� وجراحة الجهاز‬ ‫استشاري الجراحة العامة وجراحة‬ ‫يعا� من آالم وانتفاخ ي� الجهة اليم� من‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ستي� كان ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي ن‬ ‫أسبوع�‪.‬‬ ‫البطن وتحسس بوجود كتلة مع فقدان الشهية مما أدى إىل فقدانه للوزن بصورة متطردة وبشكل ملحوظ خالل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ال� بينت عن وجود ورم ضخم (ساركوما) ف� التجويف ت‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ويتو�‬ ‫ال�‬ ‫الخل� ف ي� الجهة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وعليه تم عمل الفحوصات واألشعة الالزمة ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫اليم� من البطن يبلغ حجمه‬ ‫حوال ‪ 15X20‬سم ممتد الورم من حول العمود الفقري ي� عضالت الظهر إىل منطقة البطن من‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ناحية األمامية إىل منطقة ش‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ال� ي ن‬ ‫اليم�‪ ،‬مما استدىع إىل‬ ‫اي� الرئيسية مما أدى إىل الضعط عىل بعض أعضاء جسم المريض من الجهة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫وال� شملت جراحة المسالك البولية وجراحة األوعية الدموية لعالج هذه الحالة المرضية‪.‬‬ ‫االستعانة بالتخصصات الطبية المختلفة ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫الوط� لألورام لوضع الخطة العالجية المناسبة له‪ ،‬والذي‬ ‫ثم قامت إدارة مركز البحرين لألورام بمناقشة حالة المريض ي� المجلس‬ ‫ي‬ ‫قرر إجراء عملية جراحية الستئصال الورم (ساركوما)‪.‬‬ ‫الهضم‪ ،‬الدكتور‬ ‫المناظ� وجراحة الجهاز‬ ‫الط� المكون من الدكتور هشام بكري استشاري الجراحة العامة وجراحة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وتمكن الفريق ب ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫تز‬ ‫لط�‬ ‫محمد رفيع استشاري جراحة المسالك البولية و والدكتور ر ي‬ ‫ا� المع� باهلل اآلغا استشاري جراحة األوعية الدموية والفريق ب ي‬ ‫حوال أربــع ساعات وتكللت بنجاح وبدون أي‬ ‫العملية‬ ‫استغرقت‬ ‫حيث‬ ‫كل‪،‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫المساعد لهم‪ ،‬من إجراء عملية استئصال الورم بشكل ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫مضاعفات تذكر‪ .‬وتماثل المريض للشفاء بعد عدة أيام من إجراء العملية‪ ،‬مع المتابعة المستمرة ي� مركز البحرين لألورام‪.‬‬

Removing a cancerous tumor from the thyroid of a patient in a new surgical achievement for King Hamad University Hospital Dr. Hisham Bakri, Consultant General and Laparoscopic A surgical medical team at King Hamad University Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Hisham Bakri, Consultant General and Laparoscopicsurgery succeeded in performing a delicate surgery on a sixty patient who was suffering from pain and swelling in the right side of the abdomen and felt a mass with loss of appetite, which led to his loss weight steadily and significantly within two weeks. Accordingly, the required examinations and x-rays were performed, which indicated the presence of an enormous tumor (sarcoma) within the posterior troton cavity in right side of the abdomen, its size is about 15 x 20 cm, the tumor extending from round the spine in the back muscles to the abdominal part from the front to the area of the main arteries, which led to put pressure on some organs of the patient’s body from the right side, which required to involve multi medical specialties, including urology and vascular surgery to treat this condition. Then the management of the Bahrain Oncology Center discussed the patient’s case in the National Tumor Board to develop the appropriate treatment plan for him, which the decision o to perform a surgery to remove the tumor (sarcoma) was taken. The medical team under the supervision of Dr. Hisham Bakri, Consultant General and Laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Mohamed Rafi, consultant urologist, Dr. Rani Al-Moataz Billah Al-Agha, consultant vascular surgeon, and the medical assistant team for them, were able to completely remove the tumor, as the operation took About four hours and it was crowned successfully and without any complications. The patient recovered some days after the operation, with continuous follow-up at Bahrain Oncology Center.

King Hamad University Hospital uses the latest technology to treat cases of aneurysm King Hamad University Hospital received a patient in her forties referred from a hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain, who suffers from a severe headache with spasm within the neck muscles and difficulty speaking. The patient previously visited the emergency department of another hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the necessary tests were done for her. It had been confirmed that there was severe bleeding under the brain membranes as a result of an aneurysm burst in one among the main arteries within the left lobe of the brain. The patient was transferred to the Neurology Department, where the Neurosurgeon Consultant transferred the patient to the Interventional Radiology Unit at King Hamad University Hospital for a diagnostic catheterization of the cerebral arteries. Accordingly, the medical team at the Interventional Radiology Unit immediately performed the necessary tests and performed the diagnostic catheterization of the cerebral arteries under the supervision of the Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Wael Ibrahim, who demonstrated the presence of non-specific expansion and expansion of the main artery in the central region of the left lobe of the brain, which is characterized by the absence of a fixed wall of arterial aneurysm, which does not allow the utilization of the standards methods of treatment. This enable s the utilization of medical spirals to completely close them and prevent blood flow within the affected area of the artery, which results in blockage of arterial expansion and prevents bleeding while maintaining and maintaining normal blood flow in all surrounding arteries. The medical team at King Hamad University Hospital removed a cancerous tumor for a patient with thyroid cancer The medical team at King Hamad University Hospital removed a cancerous tumor for a patient with thyroid cancer, under the supervision of Dr. Omar Sabra, a consultant ENT and head & neck surgery. Dr. Sabra revealed that the patient’s condition was difficult and sophisticated as a result of undergoing several consecutive unsuccessful surgeries in several hospitals in Bahrain and abroad previously, until the patient visited King Hamad University Hospital and therefore the medical team provided the appropriate treatment for him until he recovered. Where the patient was admitted to the hospital and all the required tests were performed for him immediately, which showed that he suffers from a complicated case of thyroid cancer. Accordingly, Dr. Omar Sabra, with the assistance of the medical team, removed the thyroid and cleaned the lymph nodes in the neck as well as in the rib cage area, which was not completely removed in previous operations The only healthy vocal cord, which was not affected by previous procedures, was preserved, which posed an excellent challenge to the doctor and therefore the patient. Dr. Sabra mentioned that “one of the matters that made the situation more complicated was that the patient underwent radioactive iodine treatment during his treatment abroad, the treatment that he had previously refused to give to the patient at King Hamad University Hospital, as it had been not the proper time to undergo it, and thus the patient had to undergo an operation complete surgery before radioactive iodine is run to his condition. And he continued, “Following up, it had been found that there was no significant improvement within the patient’s condition after giving him radioactive iodine abroad, and therefore the glands within the patient’s neck remained as they were and weren’t controlled, and thus the decision was made that surgical intervention was necessary, and therefore the patient didn’t suffer from any complications mentioned afterwards. The patient was discharged from the hospital two days after the surgery, and with follow-up, the case was photographed several weeks after the surgery, and it had been found that there was no residual tumor, and thus the condition is taken into account a challenge during this regard, and another surgical achievement added to the achievements of King Hamad University Hospital 41

In the first phase of treatment, a medical team was formed to supervise her condition, consisting of a nutritionist, a pediatrician and a pediatric endocrinologist, by developing an appropriate plan to help the girl with healthy nutrition, until her weight reached 29 kg within a month. In the second phase of treatment, the surgical team, under the supervision of Professor Martin Corbally, consultant pediatric surgeon in the hospital and his assistant team, performed a surgical operation for her by removing the lower part of the esophagus and raising part of the stomach in the normal path to the esophagus, through a process called anastomosis between the esophagus. The stomach and esophagus, where the operation took more than three hours, and was crowned with success and without any complications. in the third stage of treatment, the Anesthesia, Pain Management and Pediatric Intensive Care team closely monitored the child’s condition until she recovered and was able to swallow small pieces of solid food in gradually increasing quantities. 43

The neurosurgery and spine team at King Hamad University Hospital managed to save a Bahraini woman in her twenties from quadriplegia, thanks to God, after she suffered a terrible accident. Where the patient in her twenties was taken by ambulance after the accident to a hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and after conducting the necessary tests, it was found that she suffers from a rare type of fracture, a fracture between the head and the neck, where the first vertebra in the neck was broken and all the ligaments that connect the neck and the skull intermittent, which necessitated the need for treatment abroad. However, after a medical discussionbetween specialists, the patient was transferred to King Hamad University Hospital to examine the case, perform the necessary tests, and perform CT and MRI scans, and as a result, it was decided to treat her in the hospital. Where the neurosurgery and spine team in the hospital saved the patient’s life and dealt with the case in a professional manner due to the seriousness of the injury after conducting a clinical medical examination on it, according to the international rules for critical cases of multiple injuries, where the patient was treated in two stages, the first stage was by placing a stent jacket Tie between the neck and head (Halo Vest) to contain the fracture. During the second stage of treatment, the patient underwent a surgical operation, Dr. Talal Al-Mayman, the neurosurgeon and his assistant medical team performed a fusion between the head and neck by placing metal fasteners at the bottom of the skull, placing pins in the affected vertebrae and connecting them to the bottom of the skull with the necessary screws, where the operation took Six hours, it was successful. Dr. Talal stated that the patient was discharged from the hospital healthy a few days after the operation without any possible health complications after the violent injury she was exposed to, with the ability to move without assistance and without any weakness with complete control of urine and exit. It is worth noting that this type of fracture is very rare, and may cause quadriplegia or sudden death due to its proximity to the brain stem, which is the respiratory center, but thanks to the rapid response from King Hamad University Hospital, and under the supervision of a distinguished medical staff to provide a health service equivalent to international standards, in addition Due to the availability of the latest equipment and means, the patient was rescued as soon as possible. 45

Continue with phase II of servers’ virtualization and optimizations, migrating more systems from traditional servers to virtualized servers, to fully utilize servers.

2.

Setup and configure servers monitoring using ManageEngine tool. Using this tool allows administrator to receive alarms and to automate some resolution processes such as restarting some services.

3.

Since Email were migrated to M365 cloud, the on-Premises Exchange server was decommissioned which reduced maintenance cost and increase security by reducing the on-prem cyber-attack surface.

4.

Emails security Fortimail migration from on-prem to software as a service (SaaS).

5.

The main Firewall is configured for High Availability (HA) in order to have redundancy, increase the service availability and improve system protection.

6.

Information security workshop delivered to hospital staff in the hospital’s main auditorium. The workshop focused on rising the awareness of information security and common data protection methods.

7.

Configure a banner message to appear automatically in emails to inform the users when an email is generated from outside the hospital and warn the user to not click on any links or open attachments unless they trust the sender.

8.

Customize the KHUH Organization theme for the users to see when signed-in to ‎Microsoft 365.

9.

Established a new team for Security Operation Center (SOC) to monitor the information security, incoming and outgoing data traffic.

10.

Working closely with Ministry of Interior (MOI), National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) to deploy and use LogRythem tool at KHUH SOC to monitor cyber security.

11.

Migrated VPN Tokens for ICT staff from using physical token to using mobile application which more secure and convenient to use.

12.

Cooperate with Mohammed Bin Khalifa Cardiac Centre (MKCC) to establish as site-to-site secure connection to exchange Xray and CT Scan images so it can be studied by KHUH radiologist and consultants.

Created a copy of KHUH ERP system and provided access to Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) team to test it.

Continue with phase II of core network migration and upgrade from CISCO N700 to ARUBA 8400. And shifting ARUBA 8325 model to replace Off-site Cisco core switch model number n7004.

Setup network monitoring at our Network Operation Center (NOC) such as HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) and Aruba Airwave.

Negotiate our internet contracts with Internet Service Providers (ISP) and manage to upgrade the internet links to higher speeds (2 Gbps) combined.

Continue with phase II of the main datacenter renovation and refurbish. Completed the floor, air conditioning and now relocating back the ICT equipment.

Active Directory migration from Windows 2016 to 2019 server. The following new features in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) improve the ability for organizations to secure Active Directory environments and help us to migrate to cloud-only deployments and hybrid deployments, where some applications and services are hosted in the cloud and others are hosted on premises. The improvements include: (1. Privileged access management, 2. Extending cloud capabilities to Windows 10 devices through Azure Active Directory Join. 3. 400 samples, in which King Hamad University Hospital participated in the Ministry of Health’s national genome project, “Be with us in the national campaign to complete 50,000 genome tests,” with the goal of improving quality and continuing to adopt modern technologies in health services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. As a pioneering project, the National Genome Project aims to collect 50,000 samples in five years, at a rate of 10,000 samples per year, and to establish a comprehensive national database for early diagnosis of genetic mutations that may cause some types of tumors and cancers, as well as a comprehensive plan for carriers. Malignant genetic alterations keep these cancers from growing, which includes modifying their lifestyle, motivating them to exercise in everyday activities, improving their food habits, and other strategies. Furthermore, this strategic project intends to keep citizens from developing the condition, which will have a substantial influence on treatment expenses.

The event was attended by local consultants and specialists from the hospital and center, in addition to leading international speakers in the field. It is worth noting that the conference gained significance interest due to the current pandemic leading to the increasing number of people suffering from insomnia, many topics Of interest were discussed in the conference, particularly topics that are related to the current global health crisis, such as sleep diseases and their developments, the role of sleep and its importance in all interactive aspects of an individual’s life (sports, economy, and aviation, among others), and the equilibrium system, normal sleep and its manifestations, the relationship of sleep diseases with other organ disorders, a review of the symptoms of insomnia and sleep disorders specific age, gender and population, and the appropriate solutions for each category, and a review of the most recent treatments for sleep disorder.

The team inspected the facility to view the most recent capabilities, equipment, and qualified medical and nursing staff, and then addressed areas of cooperative collaboration and experience exchange between the two parties 93

During the meeting, they discussed and strengthened aspects of cooperation and partnership, developed communication channels between primary care centers and the hospital, developed a system for appointments and referred patients and urgent cases, through a mini-committee aimed at supervising the decisions and seeking solutions for any future problems with regard to medicines for chronic conditions that are treated on both sides
