WHAT IS HAPPINESS

The term happiness is used in the context of mental or emotional states, including positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. It is also used in the context of life satisfaction, subjective wellbeing, eudaimonia, flourishing and wellbeing.Happiness is a state, not a trait; in other words, it isn’t a long-lasting, permanent feature or personality trait, but a more fleeting, changeable state. It is equated with feeling pleasure or contentment, meaning that happiness is not to be confused with joy, ecstasy, bliss, or other more intense feelings. Happiness can be either feeling or showing, meaning that happiness is not necessarily an internal or external experience, but can be both. Happiness is finding reasons behind your existence. The extent of happiness cannot be measured by any scale. Happiness is neither tradable nor profitable. Everybody wants happiness in their lives. "Happiness is not something that comes readymade. It comes from your own actions" -Dalai Lama

Happiness does have a pretty important role in our lives, and it can have a huge impact on the way we live our lives. Research shows that happiness leads to a wide range of benefits for our performance, health, relationships and more. So, rather than success being the key to happiness, research shows that happiness could in fact be the key to success. Indeed, happiness also brings substantial benefits for society as a whole. Every individual defines happiness in his/ her own unique way the way he/she feels it.For instance, giving a kiss to your younger sibling daily after waking up in the morning and showing him how much you love them. For some happiness means loving life and seeing others happy. While some finds happiness in writing stories. Some conquer happiness in being simple yet the best person they can ever be by helping everyone around them in every small way they can.. Everyone has their own unique way to feel happy by finding things that they never expected to find.

HEALTH & HAPPINESS BY JENIL RUPANI

Health is a state of physical, mental and social wellbeing in which disease and infirmity are absent. Happiness and health have been anecdotally linked for quite a while now—"laughter is the best medicine" has become a cliche' for a reason—but research backs up what many people have instinctively assumed all along: that happiness and health really are connected, and that one's level of happiness really can impact the level of one's health. Being happy promotes a range of lifestyle habits that are important for overall health. Being happier may also improve sleep habits and practices, which is important for concentration, productivity, exercise performance and maintaining a healthy weight. Want to feel better and improve your health? Start by focusing on the things that bring you happiness. Scientific evidence suggests that positive emotions can help make life longer and healthier.

Health & Happiness Happiness is the highest form of health -Dalai Lama

Happiness lowers your risk for cardiovascular disease, lowers your blood pressure, enables better sleep, improves your diet, allows you to maintain a normal body weight through regular exercise and reduces stress. A healthy immune system is important for overall health. Research has shown that being happier may help keep your immune system strong. Those people who are happy have less chance to be prone to mental disorders. They suffer less stress, depression and anxiety. As a result, they enjoy both psychological and physiological well-being. Being happy may help you live longer. It opens a person’s mind to positivity , Optimism and vitality are critical to a person’s well-being. Being happy improves a person’s problem-solving ability .Positive-minded individuals believe they “can” and want to achieve their goals.

HOW DOES HAPPINESS SPREAD FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER? BY AADITYA HANS Individuals who associate themselves with cheerful people have a happier demeanour and consequently a better sense of well-being. The effects of one person’s happiness influence another person’s mood which boosts another person’s mood. It is a chain reaction! The closer you are to these people emotionally, the longer the effect of their attitude will be on your disposition. The closer you live to a person, the stronger the effect is, because you are with them more, therefore the effect is nearly constant. It is also stronger between individuals of the same gender.

WHAT ARE SOME MYTHS RELATED TO HAPPINSS? When we hear the word myth, so we think is it a just a basic story or is it something like a sacred story and is it even true? So, myths are stories that are based on tradition. Some may have factual origins, while others are completely fictional. Myths are tales that explain the world and man's experience. Myths sometimes are not only sacred tales or stories of our ancestors but can also be perceptions of our friend or family member which they feel are true for all. So, what are some myths related to happiness? Let’s find out!

1. "Achieving your goals will make you happy." 2. "Having things will make you happy." 3. "There's a path to happiness." 4. "Happiness is a choice." 5. "Happiness is in the Future."

WHY DOES HAPPINESS DIFFER FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER?

satisfaction from money or achieving success , whereas for others health and family is important .Therefore, the idea of feeling happy can be associated in manifold ways.

BY NITYA ROONGTA We all have come to the world with a blank canvas. As we transcend and start experiencing life as an adventure, our mental picture slowly gets filled in . We discover emotions through our innate abilities and the external world that surrounds us and what makes us"happy" is an accumulation of our internal emotions. But happiness can it really be defined in words? well, the answer is no, everyone has their own definition and perception of happiness. In other words, one may find ecstasy in reading books, other may find profound joy in skydiving and the other may perceive pleasure in watching television. There cannot be one single thing that makes everyone on Earth happy. Although , it seems that happiness is a universal emotion which binds and unifies us together . However, nobody can fully understand or experience another persons feelings as we all have our own particular passsions. Some people for example ,derive sense of

" Happiness is when what you think ,what you say and what you do are in harmony"Mahatama Gandhi ~

WHY ARE COUNTRIES SUCH AS FINLAND,ICELAND AND SWITZERLAND CALLED HAPPY COUNTRIES ? BY NITYA ROONGTA Happiness might seem like an elusive concept to quantify ,but there is science to it.Its not primarily a measure whether one laughed or smiled, but how one feels about the course of one's life. According to reports of 2012,nordic countries such as Denmark,Sweden,Norway ,Finland and Iceland consistently turn top the list of happiest countries.Nordic countries rank so high on happiness report because they have things like free education and healthcare ,low crime rates, cushy social security nets,a relatively homogeneous population and they are fairly prosperous. Perhaps most importantly ,these countries prioritize balance, which is the "formula for happiness".They don't work for long hours,a full time workweek in Denmark is typically 37 hours spread over the course of 5 days.On the other hand an average American works 44 hours per week,or 8.8 hours per day according to Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In Denmark, a full-time employee is guaranteed five weeks of vacation time, regardless of their position or field of work . Moreover ,an average American worker with five years of experience is given fifteen days of paid vacation. In the contrary, the United States doesn't provide a federal paid vacation. According to 2019 study, most of American employees work for long hours and don't have much time to spend on themselves or with their loved ones. However ,in Finland many people spend their summers in cottages callld "mokki" where they unplug and relax with family and friends. ~
