In the early 1920s, to serve the downtrodden and to promote Tamil Literature, Rajah Sir S. R. M. Annamalai Chettiar founded Sri Minakshi College, Sri Minakshi Tamil College and Sri Minakshi Sanskrit College in a rural setup at Chidambaram. In 1928, Rajah Sir S. R. M. Annamalai Chettiar agreed with the local Government to handover the above said institution for establishing a University. Thus, on 01.01.1929 Annamalai University was established as per Annamalai University Act 1928 (Tamil Nadu Act 1 of 1929).

MYLOFT Official Launching The Annamalai University Dr.C.P.Ramasami Aiyar Library has extended its remote access EResource service, which is disseminated through an online Android platform, MYLOFT (My Library at My Fingertip on 14 th October, 2020. Users can now login on the app and search for titles using keywords with the help of a separate user

ID and password. The service through MYLOFT app was launched by University Vice-Chancellor Prof V. Murugesan. By using this Facility Users can access the EResources from the single plat form with the Mobile App or Desktop from their private network. Nearly 3000 users can access in a single

Library Services The University Library is kep t open on all the days of the year (approximately 340 days) from 8.00A.M. to 8.00 P.M. during weekdays, the supply of books and documents stops half an hour before the closing time 5.45 P.M. and During Saturdays and Sundays its kept open from 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. However, the library is kept closed only on public holidays.
