READERS APPEAL
DOM DONALD MCGLYNN RIP
Thank you to those who responded to our readers appeal. We could do with a few more for the 6.15 vigil so if you feel you could volunteer as a reader for this mass please contact the Parish Office.
We are sad to announce the death of Dom Donald McGlynn, Abbot emeritus of Nunraw, on Thursday evening, 27 August 2020.
CLEANERS APPEAL We have had a good response to our cleaners appeal, however it would be great to have a few more for St Mary’s. This would enable us to have a rota of a couple of teams alternating each week.
It seems he took a fall but did not recover. He was 86 years old. The funeral will be held privately, that is for the abbey community and family members only. Fr Mark and the community ask we remember him in our prayers.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS Some of you have asked for directions regarding the children who were to receive their first Holy Communion in spring of this year but have not yet done so.

CHURCH HALL There have been a few requests from various groups asking when St Margaret’s hall can be used and various groups resumed. There are still stringent restrictions in place for the use of church halls, which are governed by the regulations for places of worship. At this time we are not ready to re-open St Margaret’s Hall but we are keeping a close eye on regulations and the guidance that is coming from the Archdiocese’s Covid-19 working group.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION Are you getting married? The Archdiocese is running marriage preparation courses on Saturday 17 October and Saturday 14 November, 10:30am4:30pm. Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions these are likely to take place online using Zoom. For an application form please contact Irene Furlong, [email protected], 0131 623 8900, or download the form from the resources tab at https://archedinburgh.org/pastoralgovernance/marriage-families/ Please let your Parish know if you do so.
We have been given the go ahead to arrange them with the Schools, so as soon as Fr Robert is in place we can start to organise this wonderful occasion.
