Welcome
TO THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY’S 2022 MAN & WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Good Evening, On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), welcome to the Orange County & Inland Empire Man & Woman of the Year Grand Finale. I am thrilled to congratulate each candidate and team member on their tremendous efforts and feel privileged to celebrate such a dedicated group of people raising funds on behalf of our patients. Our volunteers share a connection to the mission of LLS and are vital to the important work of our organization. The Man & Woman of the Year campaign has grown tremendously through the efforts of an amazing leadership team, and I thank each one of you for your hard work and dedication in helping us reach great success. This evening, you will meet our Boy & Girl of the Year - Ezekiel & Rosie Jane, whom each candidate has participated in honor of. Tonight, we pay tribute to Ezekiel & Rosie Jane, as well as all those touched by blood cancers. Our patients give us reason to never give up in our pursuit of finding cures for blood cancers. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has helped millions impacted by cancer through our more than 70-year history, funding breakthrough research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures, and providing support and advocacy for patients. With our investment of more than $1.5 Billion in research since we started in 1949, we are leaders in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine. More than 70 years of fighting blood cancers has led us to a game-changing mission: to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Thank you for joining the battle. Best of luck to all our 2022 candidates! Sincerely, Kathlene Seymour Executive Director, Southern California– Hawaii Region

Trevor Howard After receiving a Stem Cell transplant Trevor is in remission. “I am endlessly grateful for my story that I get to share and all that were by my side along the way. Everyone has a different experience through their battle with Cancer. For me, it is the hardest thing I have ever had to face but has been the most rewarding. During my journey, I found success through my faith, maintaining a positive outlook and finding humor in the things that got me down. I learned how healing laughter can be. In life, when we can find humor in tough situations, I believe we take back control over that situation. We still have a chance to take back control over Cancer” Trevor wanted to make a large influence at Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with his 10-week campaign. Trevor credits his wife, parents, family, friends and comedy with his remission. Trevor works at The Reinforced Earth Company as a Project Coordinator.
