2021 Basic Ministry Budget The budget for Plainfield United Methodist Church is more than line items on a spreadsheet. It’s a story of love in action. See how PUMC is using budget dollars to show God’s BIG Love and help others grow in faith.

Children: $108,295

At PUMC, we want every child to know they are loved by Jesus. It’s so important that “serving the children of Plainfield” is our one big thing — where we want to serve the community with such impact that the love of God in Jesus Christ is revealed and noticed. We aim to show God’s love through programs for children of all ages, ranging from birth through high school. Examples include preschool programming, before-and-after-school child care, an interactive Sunday School curriculum, seasonal events like Easter Eggstravaganza, and Trunk or Treat; and a vibrant youth ministry engaged in mission throughout the United States and beyond.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

Service: $151,545

Our congregation is motivated by God’s BIG Love to be the hands and feet for countless outreach initiatives in Plainfield, Hendricks County, and around the globe. It starts in our own backyard with programs like Monday Night Homeless Ministry, Second & Last Saturday Lunch, and the Family Assistance Fund. Support extends to local organizations like Family Promise of Hendricks County, St. Mark’s Food Pantry, and Sheltering Wings, and it culminates in adult and youth mission trips throughout the year. Proceeds from PUMC’s annual Fish Fry support ongoing outreach and mission efforts, and school supplies are collected each summer for local school children.

Worship: $286,787

God’s House: $247,049

Adult Discipleship: $69,081

Support Systems: $134,423

Our hope is that every person who participates in worship on Sunday morning can praise God in a way that is most meaningful for them. This may look like our traditional Classic worship experience at 8:45am or contemporary NewDay Praise at 10am; a seat in a pew as safety protocols allow or an enhanced live stream experience online. We’re also streaming a 9:30am service for middle and high school youth when we can’t gather in person. No matter how someone chooses to engage with us, we seek to create a space and an experience where people who don’t know Jesus can meet him, those who do know Jesus can grow in that relationship, and everyone can find a warm welcome and safe place to ask questions and talk about faith. United Methodists are passionate about making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We believe that powerful catalysts for transformation are learning and fellowship. Whether you want to read the Bible in a year, engage in a churchwide study, or join a support group, PUMC has a seat with your name on it! Recent offerings include “Disciple Bible Study” short-term classes and Lectio Divina reflections twice a month. You’ll also find ongoing adult Sunday School classes, social groups for all ages, and gatherings for men and women.

PUMC’s facility on 600 Simmons Street serves as home base for our core areas of service and ministry. Our 41,000 square-foot, two-story building allows us to host classic, contemporary, and youth worship services concurrently each Sunday. Our classrooms are filled by children, small groups, committees, mission teams, pastors, and staff. Our full-sized kitchen is a hub for ongoing ministry and outreach initiatives like bereavement meals and the annual Fish Fry. We open the sanctuary for countless concerts, music programs, and theater experiences when safety protocols allow. And we recently took on a long-term loan for replacing the roof and HVAC system. Our property is one of the most powerful tools for ministry we have, and we don’t take it for granted. If PUMC’s building is home base, then support systems keep our home healthy and strong. From coffee cups to communion elements, this budget area provides for the critical tools, equipment, and other resources required to execute countless ministries. Examples include printers, regular organ maintenance, in-house media equipment, livestreaming services, office supplies, media subscriptions like RightNow Media, music licenses, digital properties like our website and mobile app, plus any “odds or ends” you might think of. We couldn’t do what we do without them.

Total Budget: $997,181
