BY OUR REPORTER
F Dr. Patrick Mbusa BY OUR REPORTER The scandal in which Dr. Patrick Mbusa Kabagambe abandoned his lover Christabella Kobusingye Banturaki at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero Alter and vanished in thin air has taken a new twist.
Mbusa, a young man with a humble background had not taken time to research about the family he was going to marry in. Christabella hails from a historically known UPC family in Mitooma district located in western Uganda. Her grandfathers, Banturaki was a Deputy IGP and Keith Bitwababo was a prominent UPC man. These two gave the family a strong financial background and pride. When Christabella’s grandfather Banturaki died in 1984, his body was flown in a military chopper to Mushunga Miitooma and it was the first and last time the people in that area got a chance to see and touch a helicopter. A story is told that when it took off, the natives ploughed all the grass with their hands and kept it till today. Banturaki was married to two biological sisters. These sisters lived under the same roof and were constantly quarreling and fighting. Their other sister was married to Banturaki’s brother Keith Bitwabababo (the powerful UPC man). So the three sisters were married in the same family. This background gave all the family members inspiration to feel that they are on top of the world. It is against this background that Christabella looks at herself as a mover and shaker. She threw a lavish Kwanjura party and even bragged of how she had sunk in a lot of money. Christabella is a senior auditor who worked with Price Waterhouse in London before joining Ernst and Young still in London. She lives abroad. She is a very loaded lady and arguably a big spender. Information coming in indicates that she had bankrolled the wedding party that was scheduled to take place at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi. Insiders say she dictated on the number of guests Mbusa was supposed to ferry in from Kasese. She would tell everyone who cared to listen about the millions she had spent on the wedding. Traditionally, it is the family of the man that organizes the wedding party. And once the lady pumps in a lot of money it indicates that she is the ‘husband’. It is basically this, according to their friends, that forced Mbusa to cut short the arrangements of the multimillion party. It should be noted that Mbusa looked at the girl’s money coming with a curse to the family. Around
Christabella Kobusingye Banturaki November last year, Christabella bought a brand new vehicle for her father. He was driving it without any difficulties. However, one day it failed to move upon engaging gears including reverse. He called in a mechanic to work in it. When the mechanic entered and engaged a reverse gear, the car moved forward and knocked Robert Banturaki (RIP) dead. The circumstances of the accident were not clear.
COMEDY AT POLICE
Christabella got the shock of her life when Mbusa skipped a planned wedding and switched off his phones. She went and reported the matter of a missing person to the police. Christabella who seemed to have been caught off guard was excited about the marriage till Saturday and went ahead to don a wedding gown not knowing the person who had promised to give her a ring had fled. The case she reported was for a missing person driving a vehicle registration number UBH 905X. What is not yet clear now is whether the vehicle Mbusa reportedly disappeared with belongs to Christabella. What is clear is that it was also reported at police as a missing item. Mbusa is a son to late Paddy Kwira Kabagambe and Mary Kunihira Kabagambe of Sesele, Nyabugando, Mpondwe Lhubiriha TC Kasese district. He is also from a good family and his father was a brother to Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga. He is even exposed to life after spending some years in London.
MBUSA SPEAKS OUT FROM HIDEOUT
“Dear Friends and family, I have been taken by surprise and indeed shocked when I saw a malicious statement circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms with a message that I had disappeared on the eve of my wedding day. I would like to make it clear that no wedding took place in the first place. I cancelled the wedding on Thursday 8th April, 2021. All key stakeholders had been made aware of my intentions. There was no picking up of the bride (Christabella Banturaki), no guests were expected to turn up. I would also like to make it clear that at no point had I disappeared nor was I kidnapped to warrant such a malicious message. What is true is that l am alive and I simply took much-needed time off to clear my head following a very stressful period. In conclusion, I am alive and with my family and close friends. Please respect that this is a private family matter.”
OLLOWING THE post-mortem report carried out by Mulago National Referral Hospital which indicated that the late Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga died of a heart attack caused by a blood clot, a section of his family members and clergy want an independent investigation on what could have triggered it.
For a long time the archbishop was battling diabetes, could it be that the diabetic drugs triggered heart attack. In the new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the investigators searched libraries of published studies for large, randomized controlled trials of type 2 diabetes glucose-lowering drugs or strategies that assessed cardiovascular outcomes. Fourteen trials involving a total of 95,502 participants matched their criteria. They pooled and analyzed the data to calculate the relative risks of heart failure posed by each of the type 2 diabetes medications or treatments. A heart failure event occurred in 4% of patients during the individual trials they participated in, while 9.8% suffered a major cardiovascular event, such as heart attack or stroke. This was the finding of a comprehensive analysis of clinical trials covering more than 95,000 patients reported in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology. The study was also presented at the 64th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology in San Diego, CA, recently. Heart failure – where the heart does not pump enough blood around the body at the right pressure – is a common condition in patients with type 2 diabetes.
COULD HE HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY DIABETES DRUGS?
Lwanga who was 10 days ago found dead in his room has been known to be battling hypertension and diabetes for a long time and was on medication. The Diocesan Health Coordinator for Kampala Archdiocese, Dr. Dr Andrew Ssekitooleko revealed that Lwanga died of Ischemic heart disease after a coronary heart thrombosis – meaning a heart attack was due to a blood clot that was found inside the artery that supplies blood to the heart. When the government and private pathologists sent by the Catholic Church to Mulago hospital said that the results of the postmortem done on the body of Archbishop Lwanga turned out inconclusive, it raised some concern and a section of the family members remained with unanswered questions. What triggered the heart attack that killed the prelate in deep sleep a night after participating in the Way of the cross has hitherto puzzled many people in the Catholic Church and family hence calling for
Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga being laid to rest inside Lubaga Cathedral further investigation. In this scientific briefing, research shows that some diabetic prescribed drugs carry a risk of heart attack, stroke and death. It is not clear whether the drugs discussed hereunder were among the diabetic drugs and this calls for an independent investigation. According to the latest research, two drugs commonly prescribed to treat Type 2 diabetes carry a high risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure or amputation, according to a new Northwestern Medicine study published in JAMA Network Open. “People should know if the medications they’re taking to treat their diabetes could lead to serious cardiovascular harm,” said lead author Matthew O’Brien, MD, assistant professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and a Northwestern Medicine physician. “This calls for a paradigm shift in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.” The two drugs — sulfonylureas and basal insulin — are commonly prescribed to patients after they have taken metformin, a widely accepted initial Type 2 diabetes treatment, but need a second-line medication because metformin alone didn’t work or wasn’t tolerated. This is the first study to compare how each of the six major second-line drugs impact cardiovascular outcomes in patients with Type 2 diabetes taking a second diabetes medication. Basal insulin is engineered to release slowly over the course of the day, compared to the other type of insulin (prandial insulin), which is faster acting and intended to be taken before meals. More than half of patients nationwide (60 percent) who need a second-line drug are prescribed one of these two drugs, the study found. Yet, patients who take one of these two drugs are more likely — 36 percent more for sulfonylureas and twice as likely for basal insulin — to experience cardiovascular harm than those taking a newer class of diabetes
drugs known as DPP-4 inhibitors, the authors report. “According to our findings, we only have to prescribe basal insulin to 37 people over two years to observe one cardiovascular event, such as a heart attack, stroke, heart failure or amputation,” O’Brien said. “For sulfonylureas, that number was a bit higher: 103 people. But when you apply these numbers to 30 million Americans with diabetes, this has staggering implications for how we may be harming many patients.” Physicians should consider prescribing newer classes of antidiabetic medications, such as GLP-1 agonists (e.g., liraglutide), SGLT-2 inhibitors (e.g., empagliflozin) or DPP-4 inhibitors (e.g., sitagliptin), more routinely after metformin, rather than sulfonylureas or basal insulin, the study authors suggest. These drugs, however, are more expensive than the sulfonylureas, which is the main reason they are not as commonly prescribed, O’Brien said. “This should force providers to think about cardiovascular effects of these drugs early in the course of diabetes treatment, and shift prescribing patterns to newer drugs that have more favorable cardiovascular profiles,” O’Brien said. Type two diabetes medications taken by more than 6 million Americans may lead to serious side effects, including the onset of congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema, according to researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. The researchers report that the oral drugs pioglitazone and rosiglitazone can cause or exacerbate heart failure and pulmonary edema and should be avoided in patients with left ventricular dysfunction (impaired pumping ability of the heart) or chronic renal insufficiency. Both medications – among a class of drugs known as thiazolidinediones – are used for the treatment of non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes mellitus, said Dr. Abhimanyu Garg, professor of internal

medicine, chief of the diabetes clinic at the Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and the study's senior author. The Food and Drug Administration approved rosiglitazone and pioglitazone in 1999. The prescribing information indicates that the drugs should not be used by individuals with New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class III and IV status, particularly in combination with insulin. People with either type of diabetes need medications to help keep their blood sugar levels normal also take drugs which include; albiglutide (Tanzeum), dulaglutide (Trulicity), exenatide (Byetta), exenatide extended-release (Bydureon), liraglutide (Victoza), semaglutide (Ozempic).
OTHER DIABETES DRUGS
New research indicates that there are some doctors prescribe diabetic drugs which trigger heart attack. Diabetes is one of many risk factors associated with poor cardiovascular health — reports show diabetes patients are almost 50% more likely to develop heart disease. For men afflicted with type 2 diabetes and at high risk for heart attacks; however, relief might be found in an unlikely source – the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra (sildenafil). Type 2 diabetes patients struggle with high blood glucose levels that can damage nerves and blood vessels, factors that could trigger heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular diseases. And, reports have shown “the association of erectile dysfunction with cardiovascular disease increases in the presence of type 2 diabetes." According to Andrew Trafford, PhD, Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Manchester in the US, prior studies have indicated that phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5 inhibitors) like Viagra could possess benefits for heart health. Trafford and team conducted a study to investigate the relationship between PDE5 inhibitors and the reduced risk of heart attack and mortality
among men with type 2 diabetes. Study results shows further evidence that PDE5s like sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil, are “cardio protective in ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) while suppressing cardiac arrhythmias and improving cardiac function”. Study authors expressed that the “strong relationship between PDE5 inhibitor use and lower mortality in type 2 diabetes” warrants immediate investigation because of the potential for clinical benefits beyond erectile dysfunction treatment. Trafford had commented in a news release, “Having diabetes is a major risk factor for heart disease so any treatments that could reduce that risk are urgently needed, Viagra is already licensed for use, the clinical trials provide further evidence of a life-saving benefit, the possibility to start treating people with this drug in the not too distant future.” Diabetic men might consider a prescription for a drug like Viagra to be a permanent cure for a temporary issue: Take a pill, problem solved. But the truth, a leading urologist says, is entirely different. Study further shows that men with diabetes can take oral medications like sildenafil (Revatio, Viagra), tadalafil (Adcirca,Cialis), avanafil (Stendra), or vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn). However, because people with diabetes also tend to have problems with their heart, these medications may not be appropriate and could cause dangerous interactions with some heart medicines. It is advisable to talk to the doctor to determine what treatment is best.
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
The demise of the archbishop who was found lying lifeless in bed at his residence in Lubaga had raised questions with some people spinning conspiracy theories. To understand what exactly caused his sudden demise some questions must be answered. 1.Was the door found open and if so why would the archbishop sleep with the door ajar? Was it his known style and why? 2. Did somebody access his room deep in the night? Was he complaining of any complication that necessitated him to visit a medical facility before going to bed? 3. Were there any drugs related to his known history of hypertension and diabetes discovered in his room that could have triggered the heart attack? 4. The pathologists reported that the first postmortem report was inconclusive, what exactly triggered the heart attack? 5. Heart diseases can easily be managed especially by the people who do not have difficulties to look for money. Some documents discovered in his death room showed he has been sick and was receiving treatment from Kampala medical centres. They indicated that he used to visit Ebenezer, Cadic. Why didn’t the Catholic Church weigh in and have him treated by the medi-
cal experts in the known hospitals abroad? 6. If he had a medical condition that was widely known, why didn’t he hire permanent medica practitioners to reside at Rubaga?. Powerful people elsewhere in the world that known sicknesses like former South African President Nelson Mandera had appointed medic handlers to looked after them till they died. How could the archbishop die in his bed hapless without even a single nurse or a doctor to attend to him? 7. Certain drugs prescribed to diabetic patients inadvertently cause heart attacks since they do not mix with other drugs. Could he have mixed the drugs? 8. Why was the archbishop living in fear? What is it that he knew could take his life? Who are the enemies he always talked about? Have they been questioned by police? 9. A General Enquiry File (GEF) was opened at Old Kampala Road Police for all the people with information regarding the cause of Lwanga’s death. Could there have been foul play in the prelate’s demise? Why is police calling upon the public and religious leaders to provide information leading to investigations yet the death was considered natural by the pathologists? 10. The death of Pope John Paul I on September 28, 1978, shocked a world that had barely been introduced to “the Smiling Pope.” His reign of 33 days had been one of the shortest in the annals of the papacy. The official cause of death was myocardial infarction — heart attack — but confusion in the details of his demise fed instant rumors of foul play. The first conspiracy book, JeanJacques Thierry’s La Vraie Mort de Jean Paul Ier (1983), emerged from Lefebvrist circles. It not only accused Jean Cardinal Villot of the murder but of also having substituted a double for Pope Paul VI. Other sensational — and conflicting — theories continued to appear during the 1980s… John Paul I was killed by the KGB… No, the KGB was spreading false rumors to make it look like a killing… No, it was the CIA, which wanted to make room for its candidate, John Paul II. The question remained; Did the Pope fall victim to a conspiracy of Masons, Mafiosi and Vatican bankers? Was he murdered for wanting to expose corrupt machinations within the Curia? Because he was too liberal? The speculation fueled even more that the Vatican rejected an autopsy of the corpse - and even the demand for a publication of the death certificate. Allegedly disappeared glasses, slippers, papers of the Pope, also involved the Holy See in contradictions. The Vatican announced on radio that private secretary John Magee had found John Paul I dead. In fact, it was Sister Vicenza Taffarel who served him the coffee as every morning. However, the Vatican did not want to make public that a woman was alone in the room of the pontiff. It was suspected he was given digitalis. The signs and symptoms of acute digitalis (digoxin or digitoxin) poisoning by ingestion include primarily gastrointestinal effects (nausea and vomiting), hyperkalemia, and cardiovascular effects. Could Lwanga have fallen in the same category?
Kale Lawyer’s DNA Test Shocks Pals EXCLUSIVE THE REAL TRUTH behind the collapse of city lawyer - Robert Rutaro’s marriage with Christine Nsasirwe is being revealed for the first time.
We have learnt that a part from denying him sex, Christine went on to sire a kid out of the wedlock unknown to Rutaro. We are told Rutaro, after observing his children for some time, he reached a conclusion that one of them was not behaving like his blood. He then secretly took them for a DNA test at MBN clinical laboratories in Nakasero. Results seen by this newspaper confirms that one of them was not his. Rutaro had no option but to let his wife go through courts of law. Rutaro, who is also a National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth leader and the respondent, Nsasirwe were both last week served with hearing notes after failing to resolve their grievances in the mediation. According to a mediation report, Rutaro and wife insist that their marriage is irreconcilable and has been “irretrievably broken.” “Section 4 of the Divorce Act allows a husband to apply by petition to Court for the dissolution of his marriage on the ground that since the solemnization of the marriage, his wife has been guilty of adultery, coupled with two years or upwards,” Rutaro told Court in his affidavit. He further said that Nsasirwe denied him sex for two years which occasioned him sexual starvation and when he tried to talk to her why she was behaving in such manner, she turned extremely violent and quarrelsome. “She constantly used abusive words towards me in addition to cruelty which caused me great fear for my life,” he added. Rutaro accuses Nsasirwe of chasing his relatives from their marital home in Ntinda-Kigowa Kampala because she feared they would out of their closeness to her be able to observe her ritual practices. He also accused the wife of running away with their land title to their plot located at Maya, Wakiso district measuring 31.5 decimals with uncompleted residential
houses valued at Shs200m and he wanted the Court to direct her to return the said land title. He further indicated that Nsasirwe ran away from their marital home with their children and she denied him access to see them. Nsasirwe denied all the accusations and instead accused Rutaro of mistreatment and infidelity. Court is yet to a set date for the hearing of the divorce case. The duo got married on January 28, 2012, at St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University and lived together, until 2019, when Nsasirwe left their home.
STATEMENT BY RUTARO
Over the weekend Rutaro issued a statement in regard to the matter and we reproduce it verbatim. “…I wish to clarify as follows; Whereas it’s true I and my wife Nsasirwe Christine developed domestic issues which we have referred to courts of law for appropriate remedies, and whereas It’s true that our marriage suffered challenges like many other marriages we chose to subject our differences to the legal process for resolution and therefore since the matters are before the court, I am not at liberty to say the details, lest I offend the law of sub judice. Accordingly I humbly appeal to the public to treat our case as a private family matter, and to stop the public discussion about us. Let the courts of law be given the opportunity to do their work. Let’s be accorded the privacy we deserve as our matters are being adjudicated upon by the family court. At least applaud us for taking our domestic differences before the courts of law for guidance instead of resorting to practicing domestic violence which is common in many Ugandan families. I believe we are a good example and other families should learn from our example. I kindly appeal to the media fraternity to respect our privacy and stop ridiculing us in the press and on social media. Besides the case being before court, any discussion of it outside the courtroom tantamount to subjudice and therefore illegal.”
How Custodian Board Accounts Were Frozen BY OUR REPORTER SOME OFFICIALS at Departed Asians Properties Custodian Board (DAPCB) are under investigation over Shs1.6 billion fraudulent deal.
It is alleged that some officials there took the money from Margaret Ssekidde, the proprietor of Seroma Ltd and failed to deliver the property to the businesswoman. Ms Ssekidde reported the matter to President Yoweri Museveni who in turn asked for an investigation into the affairs of DAPCB. “The accounts of the Departed Asian Properties Custodian Board have been frozen and top officials are under probe,” a source asserted. In 2019, Auditor General unearthed rot in the DAPCB. In his special report to Parliament, AG John Muwanga revealed that the board misused public funds through fictitious compensations of up to Shs1.7 billion, double allocation of properties, forged land
titles, sale of assets without proper valuation and missing documents, among other illegalities. These irregularities were blamed on ‘a busy board’ [that includes government officials such as ministers], which failed to monitor the property transactions. Muwanga said that the Board failed to maintain proper books of accounts and annual financial statements were not prepared. As a result, it took his office over 15 years to audit the Board activities. The AG also inspected 139 properties in Jinja Municipality and found that the Board did appoint qualified professionals to value the properties. There was also no complete list of tenants and properties. The AG further discovered cases of duplicated allocation of properties, abandoned properties, irregular disposal of properties, arrears of ground rent and unscrupulous property managers. He said these irregularities resulted in loss of government properties.

Lord Mayor Lukwago Illness Secrets Revealed
FOR SOME time now, Kampala City Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago has been in and out of hospital with deadly complications, sometimes requiring him to fly out of the country for specialized medical attention.
Last year, the Forum for Democratic Change - FDC new convert was forced to cut short his re-election campaigns after he felt uneasy and subsequently flew out to Nairobi, Kenya where he was admitted for weeks. On return, although he had been advised to take some months rest, the situation did not permit him thus re-embarking on his tiresome campaigns. Subsequently, he was re-elected.Those close to the politician have intimated to us that glaring signs of fatigue and poor health have been showing on Lukwago ever since he returned from Nairobi.Last week, he was evacuated after fainting in the middle of the requiem mass for the fallen Archbishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Rubaga Cathedral. It has now been established that the Mayor has been rushed back to Nairobi after a recurrence of the same discomfort despite his prolonged period of in and outpatient medication. Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura said that despite visiting a number of first class health facilities in the country, Lukwago’s health kept deteriorating prompting medics to refer him back to Nairobi Hospital.“Following a recurring dizziness, per-
Lukwago in hospital sistent abdominal discomfort and severe chest pain despite attending several medical facilities in Kampala including Lubaga Hospital, Platinum Hospital, Case Hospital, Norvic Hospital among others, the Lord Mayor was referred to Nairobi Hospital for further management,” Nyanjura said in a statement posted on her social media page. She added that the Lord Mayor had traveled to Nairobi earlier this week, arrived safely and was checked into Nairobi Hospital.
She also said that Lukwago was feeling out of danger and was positively responding to treatment. “I spoke to the Lord Mayor Today morning, he is stable and undergoing numerous tests,” Nyanjura confirmed.
Poisoning concerns For some time now, worries among opposition leaders getting poisoned have been gaining traction every other day.Former Makindye West MP Hajji Hussein Kyanjo is
one example that amplified the concerns. The veteran legislator has had to spend most of his time in the previous seven years in foreign hospitals. As a result, Kyanjo who narrowly survived death has had to speak only with the help of an electric rechargeable gadget implanted in his head and chest. Early last year, former Kamuli District Chairperson Proscovia Salaamu Musumba revealed she had spent the previous two years getting treatment in local and foreign health facilities after allegedly getting poisoned. This followed her hair gradually beginning to fall off the head until there was completely none left. She revealed that the poison fears were a reality especially for opposition activists and warned his fellow leaders in Opposition to keep visiting health facilities for routine checkups. Musumba said poison points were widely distributed around the country and named the cafe at parliament as one of them.
Lung problem
Highly placed sources also told us that some of Lukwago’s lungs were injured and that’s where the problem is. However, he prefers not to tell people circumstances on how it got injured for reasons best known to him: It seems to be a traumatizing story but soon this newspaper will expose everything.

government is trustworthy and we thank the UPDF and the ministry of health for the good work,"said Odongo Moses, the National clerk of born again churches.
RED PEPPER TUESDAY, APRIL 13, 2021 www.redpepper.co.ug BY ROBERT ATUHAIRWE N A SURPRISING twist, the spate of killings of women that has been registered in recent time has been linked to the work of politicians. Recently, a number of women have been found murdered either by strangulation or being hit with blunt objects, and their bodies burnt, in Kampala.
I
A major case that is now in court involves Musa Musazizi, a 23 year old man who is reported to have confessed to killing four women, Noreen Nabirye, Violet Kansiime, Abigail Nakitende and Elizabeth Mutesi last month. He also killed Kansiime’s 3-year old baby. Musasizi is jointly charged with 23-year-old boda boda rider, Abdul Kasaija, with the murder of another woman, Mackline Ahereza, in February (2021). Medical tests done on Musasizi show that he is mentally vivid and he claims to have done the killings as a hobby. However, security honchos reject this take, reasoning that nobody engages in criminal activities as a hobby unless that person’s head has a problem. So, it is either that Musasizi is a psychiatric case or has other motivations. All those have been linked with a grand plan involving other incidents where women have been murdered senselessly within the high political season of elections and after. A newly elected councilor in Mityana was also murdered mysteriously after she had told family that she was going for a visit in Kiboga. Within security circles, these incidents are being treated as “politically-engineered crimes” intended to undermine the government and if possible stir up a situation that would fail the swearing in of President Yoweri Museveni slated for next month. The killings have been linked to the infamous murders of women that occurred after the 2016 elections where bodies would be found dumped in several localities with the victims severely mutilated and their bodies burnt. The pattern, which also involved kidnappings for ransom, centered on Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka and Mukono districts, before it was contained. Some of the victims had sticks pushed into their private parts, underscoring a motive of inflicting severe pain, violating their dignity to the fullest and sending shock waves into the public. “This is how the minds of terrorists work. To sow as much fear as possible in the minds of the public so that they retreat and to lose hope in those charged with guaranteeing their security,”
DARK PERIOD Security Links Killings Spike To Opposition’s Plan B
MURDER SUSPECTS: Musa Musasizi and Abdul Kasaija appearing before court a security source has told Red Pepper. “If you target a woman, you target humanity. If you target security, you target Museveni’s key constituency.” Apparently, this is in tandem with the interests of anti-NRM actors whose plan is to make the public lose confidence in the ability of the NRM to safeguard them while also sending a message that if they rise up they can overwhelm the “weak” system. “This is a message that has been propagated by opposition politicians hoping to precipitate a sort of ‘Arab spring’ in Uganda,” the source added. The thinking in the system is that a reoccurrence of the same frightful incidents of 2016 riding on the political discontent is very likely since the opposition is bent on implementing “plan B” and handing matters to the “public court”, both of which are understood to be euphemisms for high level defiance and insurrection. “You tell me, is it only Musasizi who has suspected his girlfriend of being involved with another man? How come that not all men are killing their girlfriends for cheating? There is another motive to this case,” the security source reasons, adding that if all men who suspected the women in their lives of straying killed them “corpses would be everywhere.” The source added that any law-abiding citizen who has faith in the government wouldn’t take matters in his hands like that.
“These things are calculated as part of a grand plan.” Apparently, the murders would be more rampant if it were not for curfew measures imposed to help contain Covid-19 infections. “If it were not for curfew, people would be moving all night. You would see bodies lying everywhere,” the source added. Asked whether that means that curfew would not be lifted soon, he said measures are in place to follow the perpetrators, whether curfew is lifted soon or not. Another factor that has been noted as threatening to see a spike in acts of insecurity is the fear that former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine) could decide to swear himself in like his idol Dr. Besigye did in 2016. “If he does that, it will embolden acts prejudicial to personal and national security since it would create a state of uncertainty and hatred among the people. It would be like endorsing rebellion against the state and the ordinary person with the aim of causing regime change.” There have been unknown people circulating leaflets with messages demeaning the person of President Museveni, inscribed with messages branding him a dictator and castigating his administration on poverty, nepotism, extrajudicial killings, and human rights abuse. Sometimes the leaflets are half-burnt or poked with holes in a fashion similar to how the women’s
bodies are treated. This has sent security chiefs thinking seriously and following major leads.
BOBI WINE TAKES OVER FROM BESIGYE
According to Steven Mungereza, this has been a practice by opposition elements for a while. He says whereas in the past it was FDC now it is now NUP trying to copy and paste the former’s modus operandi. This is how he justifies it: “Before the 2011 polls, Besigye called for popular uprisings he termed as “tsunami” in the event of election fraud; Bobi Wine threatened to mobilize the public to oust President Museveni using words like “We are removing the dictator”, to an extent of flying his family abroad in preparation for what was to come. At some point, the Government accused Besigye of having connections with the PRA rebel group, and this accusation led to charges. He denied any rebel link, although he has said he would not rule out going to the bush to battle the government if the constitution was overthrown and needed to be reinstated. Bobi wine was arrested in Arua on charges of illegally possessing guns. Government later withdrew the case. In his 2021 campaigns for president, Bobi Wine mobilized Buganda support especially the youth much the same way Kiiza Besigye did relying more on the urban youths for defiance. Both candidates mobilized Ugandans in the diaspora
and foreign political elements on the premises of suppressed democracy and entrenched dictatorship by the Government of Uganda and appealed for political and economic intervention against Uganda. In 2016, Dr. Kiiza Besigye and FDC ran the campaigns on a defiance agenda right from the onset. Throughout the 2020-2021 campaigns, Bobi Wine acted defiantly by addressing crowds and holding processions in total disregard of the Ministry of Health Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). In both cases this defiance caused confrontations with the law enforcement agencies, an issue later interpreted as dictatorship, high handedness of security and abuse of human rights. Whereas FDC and Kiiza Besigye had a plan B, they never spelt out what it entailed. However, later unusual events that preceded the elections point to the possible content of the socalled plan B. Bigyambiya (Panga) night operators that killed scores of residences and citizens in the country side, broad day attacks on private businesses more so on women mobile money operators, Scores of women especially in Entebbe, Nansana, Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka and Mukono districts were kidnaped and murdered at night. Kidnaps and murder affected mainly younger women and mainly took place in Buganda. It will be remembered that women especially in Buganda have been for a longtime known to be ardent supporters of H.E Y K Museveni in particular and NRM in general. It may not be surprising to see the once NRM women supporters having changed their allegiance against NRM in Buganda. Couldn’t this be part of Besigye’s plan B? Quite often opposition politicians ironically castigated the government for failing to protect its people and property as they gained political Capital. Much in the same way, a delegation from the European Union (EU) Mission in Uganda and the US embassy visited Besigye in 2016 after the election. Similarly, after the 2021 election, a team of nine heads Delegation of EU countries in Uganda led by, Mr. Attilio Pacifici met Bobi Wine at his home in Magere. Currently, unknown people are circulating leaflets con-

NATIONAL NEWS taining threatening messages demeaning the person of President Museveni, branding him a dictator; castigating his administration for failing to end poverty, nepotism, extrajudicial killings, and human rights abuse. Similar leaflets were dropped just after the 2016 election. From this comparison of the two leading opposition presidential hopefuls, it is apparent that a common thread of action pertains between the two. Assuming that it was not coincidence that forced similarities, by inference we foresee the following trends happening after the 2021 General Elections regarding the activities of NUP and Hon. Kyagulanyi. NUP is likely to continue with a similar structure just to maintain hope among the hopefuls that NUP has a military might of some. Whereas Kizza Besigye and his FDC proudly talked about the murder of women in Entebbe and Nansana as a failure of Government, NUP has been proud of the death of Ugandans during the recent riots and political agitation during the 2021 general elections. Both parties take advantage of peoples’ deaths as political capital as they endeavor to soil….To create an impression that the country is insecure, failed state etc., he is likely to promote insecurity. Therefore, we should not be surprised where people continue to be self-kidnapped the “Munyagwa style”, we could see a new wave of the murders of women or even young men after purported kidnaps. We could see a new wave of Bijambiiya men or similar terror operations especially in the countryside just to maintain that the regime cannot protect the people and their properties. Using allies in the security forces, we could see incidents of misconduct intended to hurt members of the public by isolated elements in security forces. Whereas FDC used Power 10 structures which were not efficient in coordinating defiance plans against the state, Kyagulanyi is bound to intensively use the social media in particular and the media in general to coordinate their plan B activities that could include commitment of the above cited crimes, destroying the personalities of the president and NRM leadership, agitating for public uprising through false information on the especially on the social media. The NUP guys will continue to antagonize government plans and others will continue committing crimes as their NUP lawyers will endeavor to get them out of jail accusing the government of political persecution just like FDC kept doing.”

Delayed Completion Of Mbarara Market Attributed To Lack Of Performance Guarantee THE DELAYED completion of the Mbarara Central Market has been attributed to failure by the contractor to renew his performance guarantee with the Bank.
A Performance Guarantee is a contractors promise to complete the project undertaken. It is issued by an insurance company or bank to
an employer on behalf of the contractor to guarantee the full and due performance of the works by the contractor as set out in the contract. Last month, the government for the fourth time extended the deadline for completion of the market after the contractor failed to meet the agreed deadline. The Local Government Minister Rapha-
Residents Abandon A Farming Over Fear
BY OUR REPORTER FORT PORTAL NGRY MOURNERS in Mugura Cell, Rubingo Ward in North Division, Fort Portal Tourism City on Sunday set ablaze the body of Amos Mugume, a suspected kidnapper.
AMURU SEVERAL farmers in the contested Apaa Township are reluctant to open up their farmlands this planting season citing insecurity and fears of attacks.
Previously farmers in the area would plant varieties of crops on several acres of land which are later sold to the neighbouring districts of Adjumani, Gulu, South Sudan and major trading centres in Amuru such as Elegu, Attiak and Pabbo. But Kenneth Opoka the Local Chairperson for Lulai Village says that hundreds of farmers in his area have resorted to small scale farming majorly around their homesteads for fears that they may be attacked while cultivating in distant places. Opoka explained that there are still cases of attacks by armed uniform men and civilians in the area over ownership of the land, something that has instilled fears among farmers and deterred them from cultivating on large scale for fear of losing their crops or even their lives to the attackers.
Bweranyangi OG Killed By Lightning
RUKUNGIRI TWO PEOPLE were over the weekend struck by lightning in Rukungiri district.
The deceased were attending Sabbath prayers at Rwerere Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rukungiri Municipality. The deceased were identified as Blessed Asiimwe, who had completed her studies at Bweranyangyi Girls School in Bushenyi District while the second victim has only been identified as Oyela who did her O level at Nyaka Aids Foundation Secondary School in Kanungu District. The lightning that struck the congregation at about 5pm left four others injured including the Church caretaker David Tugume.
Mugume, who had been on police’s list of the most wanted suspected kidnappers and criminals in Fort Portal Tourism City, was shot dead in Karamaga cell, Central Division, Fort Portal City, by security personnel on Friday. Mugume’s body was then taken to Fort Portal regional referral hospital mortuary where his relatives later picked it for his burial. However, as the burial arrangements were ongoing on Sunday, angry mourners stormed the house where the body was being kept, brought it into the compound, poured petrol on it and set it on fire with its coffin. Dauda Kigongo, a resident in the area, explains that the mourners were too angry and even never wanted his body to be prayed for, saying that he did not deserve a decent burial. Mugume was shot dead by joint security operatives following an incident in which he is alleged to have hacked one Patrick Kyomuhendo with a panga as he resisted arrest by community members. He then escaped to Karamaga swamp. The Police and the army were tipped off leading to a deployment that
el Magyezi said that the contract was extended until the end of May 2021.Construction of the Shs21bn market was in 2018 awarded to Roko Construction Company Limited under the World Bank Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Program (USMID. However, Daniel Kugumikiriza, the consultant engineers
of the project, says that the government can't provide funds for the completion of the market because the bank guarantee of the contractor expired and it is yet to be renewed. He says that once it is renewed it will enable the contractor to purchase construction materials. Eng. Emmanuel Mwebaze the Contract Manager from the
Ministry of Local Government says that they are optimistic that by the end of the fourth extension of the contract, construction will have been completed if the contractor renews his performance guarantee. Stuart Kasibante, an engineer with Roko says that they are committed to complete the market once they get the financing.
TO HELL! Angry Mourners Burn Body Of Kidnapper
The body of Mugume after it was set ablaze sorounded the swamp where he was trapped. Mugume allegedly attempted to hack a military person who was part of the team deployed for his arrest by a team led by Kabarole DPC, John Oese. The Rwenzori West Regional Police Spokesperson, Vincent Twesige said
at that point, he was shot and died on spot. Fort Portal North Division Mayor-elect, Joseph Mashuhuko blamed Katojo prison administration for having failed to put in place measures to prevent Mugume from escaping from prison in October last year. In 2018 police arrested Mu-
gume and six others for allegedly kidnapping a one and half-year-old girl from her parents' home in Maguru, Central Division, Fort Portal Tourism City. The baby was reunited with her family after the parents reportedly paid a ransom of Shs2.5m.
Mbarara City Mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi wants the government to engage the contractor so that constructions can resume. In February Mbarara city council Authority said that it has lost 600 million shillings for the financial year 2020/21 due to the delay to finalize the construction Central Market.
IG Queries Shs206m Valley Dams Project AGAGO THE Inspectorate of Government- IG has launched an investigation into the procurement of a local contractor that carried out de-silting and rehabilitation works of two valley dams in Agago District at Shs206m.
This follows allegations made by local leaders on suspected irregularities in the processes undertaken to procure the contractor for construction works on Anyami Valley Dam and Acuku Community dam in Adilang and Lamiyo Sub-counties respectively. The two projects funded by the government under Northern Uganda Social Action Fund Phase Three-NUSAF3 are meant to provide water for livestock production to livestock farmers. The community procurement committee-CPMC under the two projects with backing from some district officials is alleged to have approved an abnormally high budget for the procurement of Gene Ber Ent Ltd. James Peny-Wii, the Director of Project Risk, Monitoring and Control at IG, says that reports indicated the beneficiaries lost a great share of the project fund to the contractor in procuring equipment.

We Need To Move Away From Clan Chiefs, Elders Urge Gov’t For Decent Burial Of Amin Victims Politics Of Survival- Muntu SOROTI THE FORMER presidential candidate for the Alliance for National Transformation- ANT, Greg Mugisha Muntu has challenged politicians to prioritize on issues affecting the communities, not personal gains.
Muntu made the comment during the ANT post-election review in Soroti on Saturday while meeting candidates who participated in the 2021 general elections from Teso sub region. He noted that whereas elections are supposed to open gates for the fresh breed of leaders with development ideas, some of the politicians only join the arena to make ends meet. According to Muntu, there is need to continue exerting more pressure to change the current situation in the politics of Uganda. He observed that Uganda’s elections are getting worse every year, rating the 2021
general elections as the worst in the history of the country. According to Mugisha Muntu, the 2021 elections were characterized by high security involvement that intimidated many voters. He says some voters were influenced by heavy use of money to determine who they voted. Meanwhile, Alice Alaso Asianut, the ANT National Coordinator said there is need to change the system by voting leaders who will transform the communities. She says that as ANT, they are moving round the country to build structures for the party because its agenda goes beyond election circle. Moses Odilit, the party’s regional coordinator in Teso explains that whereas the party fielded candidates in some positions, the electoral processes and the situation on the ground limited their chances of winning the vote.

ANGO clan chiefs have asked government to build a special monument in memory of their gallant sons who perished in the liberation struggle to free Ugandans from the murderous regime of former president Iddi Amin Dada.
Amin toppled Milton Obote I government in a military coup announced on 26 January, 1971 until 11 April,1979 when soldiers supported by the Tanzania’s People Defense Forces (TPDF), Kikosi Malum of Maj General David Oyite Ojok and FRONASA of Yoweri Museveni flushed him out. During the eight-year rule described as obnoxious and backward, the Lango and Acholi ethic tribes bore the brunt of the regime which was characterized by lawlessness and dictatorship. “His murderous signature touched every clan and homestead in Lango, widows and orphans lost breadwinners and in a number of cases lived with the nightmare of disappeared loved ones whose bodies were never recovered for decent burial to this day,” reads in part a news release issued by Te-

According to Akol, Atome decided to abandon the home for fear of being arrested for failing to pay the loan. Emaat was forced to assume responsibility for taking care of his siblings. However, Emaat wanted his mother to return home and he decided to rent out a piece of land at Shs300,000 to service the loan. When Omoding got to know of Emaat’s plans, he blocked him from using the land.

LWANGA DEATH www.redpepper.co.ug
Wizards Have Taken Over Opposition BY FARUK KIRUNDA
U
GANDA S OPPOSITION HAS tendencies of wizardry (obusezi). They enjoy what has gone bad (bagala ebyononese); other people s pain and tears are their joy. The coming of social media has made them bolder and daring to an extent that a day without posting sadistic news is a loss to them. Take the case of the recent loss of the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga. What were wizards saying? I am sure all news savvy people heard what they had to say, including, of all people, Dr. Kizza Besigye (although he later apologized). But it was not the first time that someone s dead body is used to score political points. Every death is blamed on the government, including that of prominent people in government. Is the government killing itself? People even announce the living dead so as to make the government look bad. NUP fellows pronounced their own councilor, James Mubiru of Rubaga dead whereas not. Even Bobi Wine has been announced dead a thousand times . We have reached the extent of someone dying of natural causes or an ordinary accident and their death is attributed to
the government or particular individuals in government. Is NRM so powerful now that it has power over life and death, and everything in between? Was there no death before NRM came to power? Is NRM the ruling party in other countries where people also die like all mortals? I think there is too much freedom in this country that people are getting tired of it. But they will not tempt NRM to act like them or to advance policies that will cut back on the freedoms of Ugandans at large. The few mamba eaters will
carry their cross of curses from the dead whose memory they insult by engaging in heedless speculation. Death is a great mysterious equalizer which nobody can tame. And it seems to be a trend everywhere; recently when President JP Magufuli of Tanzania died, some people there celebrated. They slaughtered goats and had fun as the rest of the country-and the continent- mourned the passing of a promising son of Africa. The wizards were arrested for their absurdity but the
message was already sent-there is no opposition in most African countries. Just angry and shameless fellows looking for relevance! We can fight and play in politics but when it comes to the demise of a citizen, we are all called to extend humane eulogies and also allow experts to follow up any doubtable circumstances surrounding a person s death. Ignorant speculation sows confusion and brings unnecessary distress among bereaved families. Kindly, let this habit of celebrating death
or capitalizing on it for political points stop before the gods begin striking hard. In Uganda, the busezi culture is partly watered by absence of influential, mature and cultured parental figures in the opposition that can cultivate and impart deep ideology among their following. Leaders on that side are like hit men, only out to soil NRM s name and try to sow hatred against President Museveni by making very outrageous allegations about him in the hope that Ugandans will hate him. Why not go for facts that can be substantiated? If there are none, sit down and wait or admit that there is nothing to say to Ugandans about NRM except to support it! Politics of hatred and mudslinging is unsustainable and continuously losing place in Uganda. Those who still believe in it will soon be surprised how irrelevant they are. Then at some point, they will have to answer for their sins individually. Ugandans are already punishing these unserious people by refusing to vote for them. It would be disastrous if they were handed the reins of power. During the campaigns, they did all they could to cause bloodshed so that they would have some live cases to sell; they succeeded
in a way but the grand plan was foiled. It is unfortunate that lives had to be lost that way at all. You know, after determining that they had little chance against NRM with no policy alternatives to market, they decided that it was best to put the lives of Ugandans in direct harm s way so that they would gain sympathy from their patrons whose eye they thought would be moved by the sight of blood and bodies strewn all over. Instead of working for the safety of Ugandans whose votes they needed, they chose the populist route of staging scenes and even piecing together fake images and videos alleging massacres and targeted hits. Some images were from as far away as West Africa and others from Uganda of the Amin and Obote eras. Of course, these schemes didn t work as it ended in tears for the spreaders and funders. But I know that they are not about to stop and reflect on what value they are adding to the politics of the country. What change are they promising if they are raw and unchanged in themselves? Some need pastors to pray for them while others need NRM to come in and rescue them from being (mis)used. Beyond Akon, Get To Know Incentives The Government Offers To Domestic Investors
BY MORRISON RWAKAKAMBA ON APRIL 2, 2021 ARTISTE AND Pan African investor Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam, mostly known as Akon arrived in Uganda to engage Uganda s chief investment promoter President Yoweri Museveni with among others plans to establish a futuristic Pan-African smart city in Uganda. What followed was a frenzy of pessimism underlined with a cancel culture narrative that seems to stick - that the government babysits foreign investors at the expense of domestic
investors! This is not based on any iota of truth. The most cited incentive is the proposed public land allocation to Akon (One Square Mile) to establish a city that is expected to drive the imagination for the future of cities, creating jobs and stimulating enterprise. I haven’t looked at the feasibility and design, but the idea is imaginative, appealing, agile and potentially transformative. Land allocation for investment is not a giveaway but rather a necessary and strategic incentive to stimulate and grow investment in the Country. I must state that the government of Uganda, through the Uganda Investment Authority has and continues to offer serviced land in industrial parks and agricultural lands to domestic investors. For example, recently, one and half square miles of land in Masindi was allocated to Kazire Health Products, a local investor to expand
operations. Kazire Health products already employ in excess of 2000 direct employees. The most competed for land for industrial purposes is the Kampala Industrial and Business Park (2,200 acres), and here Uganda Investment Authority has allocated over 60 percent of the land to domestic investors. It is therefore hard to fathom, where this Government favours foreign investors narrative comes from! Let s now deep-dive into some other perks of incentives government offers to local investors; The Investment Code Act of 2019(amended) clause 12 articulates some of the incentives operationalised through a raft of regulations and schedules. 1. The minimum capital requirement for a foreign investor to get an investment licence and an investment certificate and qualify for incentives, he or she must deliver a capital investment of USD 250,000. For a local
investor, the minimum capital requirement is USD 50,000. 2. There is a 10 year tax exemption on income derived by an investor in an industrial park and outside industrial park who invests in agro processing, manufacture of medical appliances etc and use at least 70% of local raw materials and employs 70% of Ugandans/East Afvricans who must take up 70% of the wage bill. To qualify for this incentive, USD 10 million is the minimum required investment for foreing investors and USD 300,000 for local investors and USD 150,000 if the local investment is up-country. 3. There is also a 10 year tax exemption on income derived from renting or leasing facilities established in industrial parks or free zones. To qualify for this incentive, the minimum capital investment for foreign investors is USD 50 million and for local investors it is USD 10 million.
4. Local Investors whose income is derived from exportation of finished consumer and capital goods qualify for 10 year income tax exemption if 80% of their production is exported to markets beyond the East African Community. 5. Local Investors involved in agro-processing qualify for a one year income tax exemption. Import duty on plant and machinery for agro-processing is also exempt. All inputs for manufacturing in agro processing are duty free (zero rated). 6. Domestic investors qualify for 100% deductible allowances on cost of training Ugandans and cost of research into new technologies. i.e when paying taxes (filing returns), this cost is deducted. 7. Raw materials not available in Uganda for input into manufacturing are duty free. 8. Value added tax on accommodation in hotels and tourist lodges upcountry
is now zero rated (free). For Kampala and 50km radius, this incentive is up to 1st July of 2021. 9. Uganda Investment Authority retains a dedicated department focused on supporting small scale and medium enterprises (pairing them up with big local and foreign investors, providing space in industrial parks etc). Most women will never tell you what is going on their mind. So to show that you are the man and you are very much in control, then you should quickly learn how to read her body statements. When you’re in bed with a woman, do you ever get the feeling that she’s uncomfortable or that something is a miss? Are you able to read her your chic’s body language? Check out these body language movements and reactions that likely mean that something is wrong with her. EYE CONTACT If she lets you get inside her but won’t even look at you, something is definitely wrong. If every time you lean to kiss her, she doesn’t open her eyes, there is definitely a problem. Possible reasons; it’s possible that she’s shy and inexperienced in bed. If she won’t let your mouth get anywhere near hers, you might have bad breath, she might have bad breath, your facial hair might be scraping her face or, if you went down on her, she might find it ‘distasteful’ to kiss afterwards. Fix it: the next time you shaft, pull out and make your way to her face; gently hold her head in your hands and kiss her like a Casanova. EXPRESSIONLESS If you’re giving the session your all and she’s staring into space or focusing all her attention on the ceiling, something has got to be wrong. Possible reasons; it’s possible that she doesn’t like sex much. As well, she might want to be engaging in some other sex act and is afraid to tell you about it. Maybe she feels like a caged animal and wants to be on top or maybe you’re only giving her enough room to maneuver. Fix it; Put her on top and tell her you want to watch her move. Or, when you’re not having sex, ask her about her sexual fantasies; maybe that will help you get to the bottom of her body language behavior. BORING You’re pulling out all the stops; you’re going down, coming up, licking, kissing and all that good stuff. And she just lies there like a corpse. Possible reasons;

You, Or Is She Just Being Friendly? BY OUR REPORTER
she may not like sex or she may not like having it with you. Or worse, she might think that all she’s actually required to do is be present. As hard as it maybe to believe, there are women who think that lying there amounts to anticipation. Fix it; you have to say something. Ask her if she feels desired by your actions, then tell her you would like to feel that way too. If you’re too shy to communicate verbally about this ordeal, and then tell her that you’d like to role-play and switch positions. Let her be you and you be her. Her body language will certainly change. BODY CONSCIOUS So, your girl is acting like a nun and won’t get naked in front of you. As much as you want to enjoy her body visually, she leaves the room by slowly backing out. Or, she needs to have all the lights off when you have sex and the blankets need to be covering her. Let’s break that habit. Possible reasons; well, there is no doubt that she’s insecure about her body, and she thinks you might get turned off if you see all her flaws. Fix it; show her that even though you have flaws, you
know that she loves you anyway but don’t point your flaws. Perhaps the most important thing is to tell her that you think she is beautiful and that you appreciate her body. It could take time a repetition on your part to break down those walls that she has constructed, but it’ll be worth it once you do it. PASSIONLESS You go down her and take your time, making sure to please her in every way possible, but she never goes down on you. You seduce her constantly, doing your best to turn her on and make her enjoy sex, and yet she never comes on you or initiate sex. Possible reasons; first, it’s possible she thinks that it’s your responsibility to turn her on, and not the other way round. Second, some women think that guys get turned on just by seeing a girl, so therefore she doesn’t really have to come on to you. Oddly enough, some women even think that being ‘aggressive’ is unladylike and could turn a guy off. Fix it; tell her that you love receiving oral sex and you fantasize about how great she would be at it. tell her that it’s important for you

You’ve been there before. You’re chatting up a woman and things seem to be going well: she’s happy, she’s laughing, and she hasn’t walked away from you yet. Good signs, right? But then you go to ask for her number or a date and she completely brushes you off. So where did you go wrong? Well, she probably dropped plenty of hints to let you know she’s not into you, but you might have been too focused on her outwardly friendly persona and let your hopefulness take the reins. But if you actually think about the interaction a little deeper, consider whether she was truly engaged in the conversation, or if she was just letting you talk. Did you notice if she was making eye contact, or looking away a lot? With a little more analysis, you’ll find that here may be a lot of things she’s done during your interactions that leave you wondering, “Is she into me or not?” Because so much of our communication actually relies on nonverbal cues, it’s important to pay attention to not only what a woman is saying when she interacts with you, but also how she acts around you. The good news is, the usual suspects for showing romantic interest are the same as they’ve been for centuries. Initially, signs a woman has a blossoming attraction are her genuine smile, laughter, eye contact, close attention, and asking questions about what a potential love interest is sharing. If most of your communication is via text dating sites, this may be a little more difficult to discern, but there are still some key conversational behaviors that can help you decide whether or not she’s interested in you. It can be a lot to take in, but don’t worry; we’re about to clue you in on the actions and behaviors that you should actually be looking for to figure out if she’s interested in you or simply being polite. Before you know it, you’ll have a much better idea of whether you’re just friends with her, or if there’s actually romantic potential between you. SIGNS SHE’S INTO YOU 1. She Teases You Playfully When you were a kid, your number one way of flirting with a girl — before you really even knew what flirting was — was
likely calling her silly names, or giving her a little shove on the playground. You didn’t do it to be mean, of course; you just wanted to be close to her and have an excuse to interact with her, even if you weren’t really sure why. Well, consider teasing to be the adult version of this behavior. Both men and women use teasing as a way to let another person know they’re crushing on them, and the behavior is ingrained in us from when we were children. For women, teasing is a way of testing your intentions. It’s a pretty low-risk behavior because she doesn’t have to outwardly say she’s into you, but it gives her an excuse to put the focus of the conversation on you, ultimately making it more personal and, dare we say, intimate. So if she’s playfully making fun of the way you get mad about your favorite team, or your preferred drink order, don’t be too sensitive here. She might just be dropping some subtle hints that she’s really into you. 2. SHE’S RESPONSIVE AND ASKS LOTS OF QUESTIONS Forget all the pickup lines you’ve ever rehearsed, as well as your arsenal of one-liner conversation starters that you’ve been overusing for the past three years. When it comes to gauging her interest in you, the wittiness of your remarks is often much less important than how she responds. For example, a monosyllabic answer — particularly when delivered in a clipped tone or via a quick ‘k’ text message — is her way of shutting you (and the conversation) down. However, a smiling, friendly response with an intentional bit of eye contact is certain to be a green light to follow up with further conversation. If you’re chatting via text, an interested response would likely include questions and commentary to keep the conversation rolling. That should be a clear indicator that she’s engaged in the interaction and has a genuine interest in finding out more about you. “When I like a guy, I’ll ask him a zillion questions if he brings up something he’s interested in,” says Serena, 26. “He’ll enjoy telling me all about it, and sometimes I’ll bring it up in a different conversation later on to show that I remember the things he likes.” 3. SHE SHARES BACK AND FINDS WAYS TO BOND Once you’ve got the ball rolling
When the lady closes the distance between your bodies, its a sign shes into you in the conversation department, try taking things to the next level by sharing something about yourself with her. The less you know her, the more positive and less personal the information should be, or you’ll risk scaring her off. So, try a passing remark about your favorite bar food, or the latest series you’re bingeing on Netflix. A reciprocal response, where she offers up a similar level of information about herself is a hint that she has a favorable view of you. Though you might think it’s superficial to bond over a mutual love of barbecue or Pizza, sharing little pieces of yourself serves to increase the feeling of intimacy between two people, so she just might leave that conversation liking you even more than when it started. 4. SHE PLAYS WITH HER HAIR For more than forty years, researchers have been cataloging the non-verbal behaviors women use to let men know they’re interested (and vice versa). One important category of flirting is referred to as kinetic gestures, and it includes the oldest trick in the book: hair tossing. This also brings attention to her neck and shoulders, subconsciously showing vulnerability. So if she feels comfortable enough to bare a vulnerable part of herself, it’s a pretty safe bet that she’s interested in you. 5. HER POSTURE IS OPEN AND HER Body Language Is Positive Hair tossing isn’t the only non-verbal behavior that can be indicative of interest. Both men and women send important signals to each other simply through their body language, whether these actions are intentional or totally subconscious. They’re often complex social cues, and they can be subtle, but they’re easier to pick up on when you’re clued into what they mean. For example, a woman who has her body turned away from yours (particularly if it’s at a 90-degree angle) is non-verbally blocking your attempts at getting to know her. Crossing her arms and leaning away from you are two other stances that indicate that a conversation will be a non-starter. On the flipside, body language that suggests she’s receptive to further communication will center around a more open posture, according
to the Social Issues Research Centre. That is, she’ll turn her body to face yours, her feet will point toward you, and her arms will be uncrossed. These are great signs that she’s receptive to conversation, but may not indicate romantic interest on their own. Some other subtle forms of non-verbal body language that may reveal that she’s into you, however, include tilting her head to one side, smiling and laughing, licking her lips, caressing an object she’s holding (like a beer bottle or her phone), and of course, prolonged eye contact. 6. SHE TRIES TO CATCH YOUR EYE Speaking of which, eye contact is a powerful mode of communication among humans, and repeated or prolonged eye contact usually serves two main purposes: to either convey interest or hostility. When it comes to the former, ethnologist Irenaus Eibl-Eibesfeldt was the first to describe how women the world over let their eyes do the talking with that infamous little eyebrow flash. So, if you spot a woman of interest across the room, watch out for a glance that catches your eye, breaks eye contact, and then catches your eye again shortly afterward. Don’t worry about catching this signal the first time it’s made, though. Research has determined that women will continue to send it to you when you›ve piqued their curiosity, possibly because it may take a man a while to process receiving it, and then harness the courage to strike up a conversation. 7. SHE LEANS IN AND FINDS ANY EXCUSE TO TOUCH YOU In terms of body language, one huge indicator that she’s into you is if she leans in close to hear what you’re saying, or she finds a way to stand or sit closer to you. After all, she wouldn’t want to get that close if she didn’t enjoy being around you, and the same goes for finding excuses for physical touch. A woman may initiate a connection that indicates she feels closer by brushing a man’s skin in casual conversation. So if you catch her lightly tapping your arm as she laughs at your joke, or placing a hand on your knee as she tells a story,
this could be a major sign she’s interested. To take it one step further, she may even bring attention to the action by calling it out, ensuring that you really take notice. “When I’m into a guy, contact is key. A little arm or leg touch can go a long way,” says Belinda, 42. “And I add an ‘Oh, you have a little fuzz on your shirt!’ then flick it away.” 8. SHE MIRRORS YOU There’s a reason they say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. It turns out that when a woman likes you, she becomes more in tune with you and may even copy your moves. For example, she’ll touch her face, reach for her glass, or adjust her body a few seconds after you do the same. It’s totally subconscious behavior, which means it’s a clear giveaway that she’s interested in you, even if she didn’t intend to reveal that info just yet. That said, you could intentionally mirror her gestures to help her feel more at ease around you. This could positively influence her opinion of you since humans tend to have warmer feelings toward people they believe to be like themselves. Just avoid being too obvious as overt mimicking will leave her with the opposite impression that you’re making fun of her.

9. SHE SHOWS UP WHERE YOU ARE OR DROPS HINTS ABOUT WHERE SHE’LL BE If she always seems to pop up at social events and finds her way over to you to make conversation, it might be more than just a coincidence. “Back at campus, I remember knowing that my crush had the same long break between lectures as I did, and he’d always spend it in one of the main building’s cafeterias,” says Anne, 32. “I would casually show up, hoping he’d notice, and fortunately, he eventually got the hint and we’d spend that time chatting and getting to know each other better.” Similarly, if she often mentions where she’s going to be — like a party or a concert — it might be a subtle invitation that lets you know she’d like to see you again, sooner rather than later. “She may drop a fabulously flirty hint highlighting that, on Saturday afternoons, she can be found bargain-hunting at the local market, indicating that she hopes to bump into you again,” suggests George. 10. SHE MAKES THE FIRST MOVE If her subtle hints about a meetup keep flying over your head, however, she may just take matters into her own hands and offer you an invitation outright. “Sometimes I just make the first move,” says Serena. “I’ll buy his drink at the bar, send him a (tasteful) thirst trap, or invite him over for Netflix and chill. Nothing is sexier than confidence.” Her invitation may be for an actual event or simply an invitation to engage in conversation. But either way, If she’s making it clear that she’s interested through her actions and her words, don’t second-guess it! Take her up on her offer and get to know her a little better. Worst comes to worst, at least you’ve made a new friend or enjoyed some good conversation. IS SHE INTO ME OR JUST FRIENDLY? In the end, however, it’s important to remember that just because she’s making eye contact with you, or she thinks one thing you said was funny, it doesn’t automatically mean she’s in love with you. Be sure to consider any non-verbal social cues you may notice in context with the rest of her behavior, her words, and her body language. It’s crucial to not mistake friendliness for romantic interest. And, if you’re really not sure of her interest level, there’s no harm in asking.

Why Customer Retention Is Key BY JOLLY GWARI Once you have created a killer product and have identified your target market, company growth can take off and it’s important to dedicate just as many resources to retaining existing customers as to selling to new customers. Customer retention is a company’s ability to retain its customers over time. It’s a percentage-based metric measuring how many customers are retained by the end of a given time period. It can cost up to 30 times as much to acquire a new customer vs. retaining an existing customer, increasing customer retention rates by just 5% increases profits by 25% to 95%. WHO MANAGES CUSTOMER RETENTION? Customer retention is typically managed by customer success. The role of this team is to work with and delight your customers throughout the duration of their relationship with your company (no matter how long or short this time frame might be). Customer success teams should not only work directly with your customers to improve and maintain retention rates, but work with other teams within your organization to do so as well. For example, customer success should help teams like sales or customer service and support roles that have the potential to directly impact retention organize, manage, and improve all aspects of the customer experience. This way, your entire business works together towards consistently improving customer retention. RETENTION STRATEGY A retention strategy is a plan designed to achieve the overall goal of retaining customers. Some examples of strategies include improving your business’ customer experience and increasing your customer referral marketing. One specific example of a strategy is keeping customers happy so they spend more. Although this is a plan, it doesn’t say how this is achieved (tactics) or what will be used to achieve this (tools). RETENTION TACTIC A retention tactic is an action or act carried out with the goal of creating retained customers. An example is checking in with customers two weeks after their last order. This shows what the business will specifically do as an action to carry out the retention strategy. Other examples include giving existing customers discounts or coupons and offering a loyalty program to reward customers for actions. SET YOUR SALES GOALS Before you tackle any marketing strategy, you need a goal. Otherwise, you don’t know what you’re shooting for. First, calculate your existing customer retention rate. You have to start somewhere. If you’re currently retaining customers at 10 percent, setting a goal of 50 percent isn’t particularly reasonable. You need a goal you can feasibly hit. Consider the size of your customer base as well as the type of product you sell. Some products are tailor-made for customer retention. For instance, people
always need to refill their household supplies, such as dish soap and toilet paper. You can create a more ambitious goal in that case. However, if you want your customers to try different products, to order the same products as gifts, or to order more of what they already have, you will need a more conservative goal. Repeat purchases from repeat customers means repeat profit Loyal customers will use your business regularly for purchases and tend to spend more money. Existing customers are 3 to 10x more likely to buy than a cold lead. They are 50% more likely to buy new products and spend 33% more than new customers. A valued customer trusts your business and believes that you offer a superior service compared to competitors. This customer believes that your company listens to their needs and requests so it is important that you do so. Pay attention to which brands, products and purchases this customer prefers, as they are more likely to make additional purchases at your business. FREE WORD-OF-MOUTH ADVERTISING Word-of-mouth is the most cost-effective advertising you can have and only comes from your loyal, happy customers. Repeat customers are more likely to tell their friends and family about your business and its products, and customers respect the opinion of those close to them. Customers are happy to tell people about excellent service they received or a product that they enjoyed. A successfully retained customer is much more likely to refer other customers. These referees cost less to acquire and have a higher lifetime value than customers gained from other ways. RETAINED CUSTOMERS WILL PROVIDE VALUABLE FEEDBACK Customers that you retain provide valuable feedback, and it’s important that you listen. Notably, 97% of consumers said they are somewhat likely to become more loyal to a company that implements their feedback, while 55% of consumers said they are not likely to continue being a customer of a company that ignores their feedback. Customers who make frequent purchases from your business will know which areas of your business could be improved. How can you improve your business if you are only dealing with new customers? Ask your repeat customers how your business can serve them better. This will lead to new opportunities that you may have overlooked, and lead to increased retention rates and sales. PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS WILL PAY PREMIUM PRICES Loyal customers are far less price-conscious than new customers because they value your company already and, thus, are willing to pay the price for your services. Many customers associate higher prices with quality service and retained customers trust that your company can deliver this quality over competitors.

How To Earn From A Vegetable Nursery In Your Backyard BY JOLLY GWARI
One hundred pounds of tomatoes from just 100 square feet. Twenty pounds of carrots from 24 square feet. Delicious vegetables from a 15-by-20foot plot. Believe it or not, it›s not impossible to grow your own vegetable garden with yields of this nature. All that›s required is some patience and smart tactics to get the most out of your garden space. Follow these tips and tricks to plan the vegetable gardening of your dreams. PREPARING SOILS FOR A NEW GARDEN Good soil for growing nursery plants is the correct mixture of sand, clay, and organic matter. Soil should be loam to sandy loam, and friable, rich in organic content, and well drained for raising vegetable seedling the soil PH level should be 7.0. Soil preparation needs deep cultivation of nursery land by soil turning, ploughing by spade, and subsequent 2-3 hoeing with a cultivator. Remove all the clods, stones, and weeds from the field and level the nursery land. Mix 100kg well rotten and fine FYM of about 500gm vermicomposting per square meter mixed in the soil. Consider worm castings WORM CASTINGS, A.K.A. POOP, ARE A NATURAL FERTILIZER THAT CAN STIMULATE plant growth. It also helps soil retain water, which is key for a healthy vegetable garden. Work in the worm castings as you turn and break up clumps of soil. If you are not seeing a lot of earthworms in your soil already, be generous with the castings. SOIL MEDIA Even if your land is not fertile enough for the saplings to grow healthy there are other ways that you can opt for to make your vegetable plants grow healthy. The vege-

separately, and more. You need to make sure that the tools are relevant, do not compromise on the quality as it can lead to stem and root damage. PLANTING After your new garden has been prepared, you can plant your veggies one of two ways: by directly sowing seeds into the garden or by planting transplants. Some vegetable such as okra, peas, cucumber, bottle gourd, spinach, carrots, and beet roots fit for direct sowing. Onions, tomato, pepper, chilies, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce are best through seedlings. Potato, ginger, turmeric, mint, sweet potato, and garlic are better through vegetative propagation. KNOW HOW TO TIME YOUR CROPS WELL Succession planting allows you to grow more than one crop in a given space over the course of a growing season. That way, you can harvest three or even four crops from a single area. For instance, follow an early crop of leaf lettuce with a fast-maturing corn, and then grow more greens or overwintered garlic all within a single growing season.
table plants should get proper nutrient supply, enough space for rooting and adhesiveness in the soil to hold it. Make sure your nursery land has enough stock of black and red soil, sand, compost, sawdust farmyard manure, sphagnum moss, vermiculite, and peat moss. The acidity of the soil should be maintained so while planting, make sure the soil is between 5.5 and 6.5 PH level. Then, this will make the soil media more economical. Tools required setting up a vegetable nursery The tools that you’re going to need for watering, cutting, grafting, and other activities related to planting are watering cans, scissors, crowbar, digging forks, grafting knives, germination trays, grafting tape, spades, hose pipes, pruners, little storage units if your planting

Mbalangu Not Shocked With Arua Hill Exit
ARUA HILL SC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has confessed he is neither surprised nor shocked with his side’s exit from Uganda Cup after suffering a 1-0 defeat to UPDF FC at Bombo Military Ground on Sunday.
Arua Hill came for the second leg of the Uganda Cup round of 32 fixture with a first leg 3-2 win. But the away goal advantage for Kefa Kisala’s boys worked well in the reverse fixture after managing 1-0 win. The Leopards conceded an early goal in the 4th minute after Alex Kitata struck low and home following a corner delivered by Hassan Hussein Zinda. Mbalangu’s boys tried but failed to level matters even after chances showed up through Baden and Agau in the first half. “We’ve been eliminated but the boys played very well,” Mbalangu told club media. “We made a mistake in the first minute, that’s where they scored us, we kept on pushing until the last whistle and the game ended 1-0. “But I’m not surprised because this defeat will give us a breather so we can focus on one target which is to get promotion to the Premier League.” Despite the defeat, Arua Hill didn’t go down without character and intent as they huffed and puffed in search of goal even before the introduction of Emmanuel Mutebi and Rashid Kawawa for Rashid Agau and Baden Mujahid in the second half. The two fresh legs added more effort as they brought change in form of pace to the game in their respective capacity with Kawawa launching the swings to the box while mounting pressure meanwhile Mutebi with his quick sleek movement in the box created a foul that could have earned Arua Hill a penalty if not for the centre referee’s indifferent view. “The young boys came to add on pace like they did in the first leg,” Mbalangu revealed his observation on the contribution of the duo as he explained his reasons of substituting them in. “I wanted to introduce the player who did well in the first leg so that it could be their trial match for Mbale clash and they didn’t disappoint me. “They created some controversial foul but as you know we’re away and we blame no one but they played well,” he continued. TEAMS THAT HAVE PROGRESSED TO ROUND OF 16 OF UGANDA CUP: *lUPDF FC, KCCA FC, Vipers SC, SC Villa, Mbale Heroes, Wakiso Giants, Police FC, Onduparaka FC, Tooro United, Express FC, Proline FC, BUL FC, Maroons FC, URA FC and Bright Stars.

C VILLA produced a spirited performance in the second half to defeat Ndejje University 3-0 on Sunday evening to make it to the Round of 16 of the Uganda Cup thanks to a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
Ronald Ssekiganda, Geoffrey Wasswa, and Emmanuel Wasswa scored a goal each to ensure the former champions did not suffer an early exit. The Jogoos came into the match hopeful of getting a favourable result to make it to the next stage after falling by a solitary goal in the first leg played at the Arena of Visions. It was the hosts who started the match on high and had a massive chance to score after 10 minutes. However, Brian Ssali failed to find the back of the net with the goalkeeper out of position. The visitors had a good chance to score in the 16th minute when midfielder Ssekiganda was slipped into the danger zone but Jeans Brady Wokorach pulled off an amazing save to stop him. Neither of the two teams
UGANDA CAPTAIN Denis Onyango has described midfielder Hassan Wasswa as ‘a warrior and fighter’ after he called it quits from national team duty on Sunday.
The 33-year-old midfielder confirmed he had retired from the national team, where he said it was a very big honour to represent the people of Uganda for the last 13 years. Onyango, who features for Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, has taken to his social media pages to describe Wasswa as a fighter who did his best while surviving the national team and further wished him well in his future endeavours. “I would like to personally congratulate you on your retirement from international football,” Onyango wrote in a statement. “I enjoyed playing and working with you during your time with Uganda Cranes, and I consider you not only a valuable asset to the team but an enjoyable presence you were in the team, as well. “While you will be missed by all of us, you certainly deserved to bow out with honour. Your hard work and diligence gave greatly benefited the Cranes over the 13 years, and I hope that the remaining and upcoming youngsters in the national team setup will strive to follow your stellar example. “Your contributions to our overall football journey

Villa staged a great second leg to eliminate Ndejje managed to get a goal in the first 45 minutes. In the 62nd minute, Ssekiganda managed to capitalise on a defensive lapse to score and ensure the teams are 1-1 on aggregate. Three minutes later, Ndejje conceded a penalty and gave their opponents a massive chance to score a vital second goal and Wasswa, who was making his debut, made no mistake from 12 yards. His name-sake Wasswa struck the team’s third in
the 71st minute to ensure the nine-time champions advanced to the Round of 16 as Ndejje now turn their attention to the Fufa Big League. In another domestic cup assignment, Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) FC sealed their place in the next round after defeating Arua Hills by a solitary goal. The administrative side had lost 3-2 in the first leg and needed a favourable result to make it through to the next stage.
UGANDA ATHLETICS Federation (UAF) has qualified four athletes for the Africa Athletics Championships due in June 2021 in Oran, Algeria.
Incidentally, all the four women that qualified for the continental do finished between 1-4 in the 5000m race during the 5th National Track and Field Competition held over the weekend at Mandela Stadium, Warm Up track, Nambole. Wasswa and Onyango have been king pins for the Cranes wherever we have played and been will sorely be missed. I personally do appreciate your sweat and the fight you put up for the team. I know I used to shout at you on the pitch but that was to push you to work harder. Just know I’m so happy and will be proud of you always. “It has always been and will be my pleasure to work with you, so while I am saddened to see you go, I am confident you will find the same success and happiness in retirement that you experienced during your time with the national team. “I wish you the best in your future endeavours, retirement will surely offer you many new opportunities,
which I know you embrace wholeheartedly, just as you did with the Cranes.” After announcing his retirement, coach Johnathan McKinstry was among the first people to pay tribute to the midfielder. “A career of great quality, dedication, and service to the Uganda Cranes comes to an end,” McKinstry wrote on his Facebook page. “Wasswa has been and will continue to remain a great example to future generations of what it takes to excel in the red shirt of Uganda. “Good luck Hassan [Wasswa] in the next chapter.” Federation of Uganda Football Association also thanked Wasswa for the great memo-
ries, having made 75 appearances for the national team. Wasswa served the Cranes at two Afcon finals – 2017 in Gabon and 2019 in Egypt –and his last assignment for the national team was in Egypt when the Cranes played against Senegal and he also managed a total of 75 caps. Outside Uganda, Wasswa played for St George (Ethiopia), FC Cape Town (South Africa), Karabukspor (Turkey), Altay (Turkey), Kayseri Erciyesspor (Turkey), Dong Nai (Vietnam), Al Shorta (Iraq), Nejmeh Sporting Club (Lebanon), Tala’ea El Gaish Sporting Club (Egypt) and lately Jeddah club in Saudi Arabia.

Onyango Spits Fire At Magogo Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango has hinted he may not take part in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers following Fufa president Moses Magogo’s scathing attack on the players that featured in the African Nations Championship finals. Magogo hit out at the players who featured in Chan for what he called “shitty football” as the Cranes failed to progress from a group which also had Togo, Rwanda and Morocco. The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper has now stated he is not ready to play because he is tired of making money for the federation. “I do not know who will play for him [Magogo] in the World Cup qualifiers because I do not have the time for that,” Onyango is heard saying in a leaked audio recording. “I am really tired of making money for those Fufa guys, let him [Magogo] start another team and we see those who do not play ’sh**ty’ football and make the money for him.” The Premier Soccer League winner said Magogo should have just come out to clear the air on the unsettled arrears, instead of launching a scathing attack on the Chan players. “Magogo’s public criticism of the players who played at CHAN was uncalled for,” Onyango added. “It was just a matter of coming out with an explanation because the truth is Fufa owes them the money. “I was also told that the federation did not give these players the jerseys they used at the tournament, that is being unprofessional.” On Friday, retired Mike Mutyaba held a demonstration at Fufa offices in Mengo to demand the unsettled allowances, only for him to be arrested and beaten up. “[Mike] Mutyaba has just exposed them, yes they embezzle players’ funds that is the truth because national team players were supposed to be paid one million shillings each monthly but all in vain,” Onyango explained. In a previous interview, Magogo was outright that the players who featured in Chan were out of order to claim the money, although he added Fufa was working hard to pay them. “After the sort of performance that they put out in Cameroon, these players should not even be demanding payment,” Magogo said. “When you demand money, what have you put on the table? They went there and played sh**ty football and then come back and demand money. Okay, what are you demanding, what have you done? “There has been a rumour going on that the Chan players are yet to be paid. Yes, these players have not been paid but we are working on it just like the case with the Hippos.” Uganda will start World Cup qualifiers in June as they are pooled against Kenya, Rwanda and Mali.

ETIRED UGANDA CRANES star Hassan Wasswa has lifted the lid on the reasons why the players staged a strike during the 2019 Africa cup of Nations finals in Egypt. Wasswa has stated there was a pact that the players must be paid for every victory but there was no immediate payment from Fufa after reaching the knockout stage. The go-slow had been reported to have occurred just before the Cranes took on Senegal in the Round of 16 and now the former midfielder has lifted the lid on the ongoings.“We signed a code of conduct, whereby when we win a game we have to get paid,” Wasswa is quoted telling the Sports Nation. “So, we qualified for the Last 16 and this money was supposed to be paid

HE 96TH FUFA General assembly was held on Saturday at the Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi with 73 out of the 88 members in attendance. It was largely a tranquil assembly where most of the proposals were passed with ease away from the proposed amendments as the FUFA president Moses Magogo explained. “We have had an assembly which is held annually as mandated by the FUFA Statures. We had a couple of amendments in the constitution like it has been over the years. This assembly also endorsed the annual activity calendar, budget and passed the appointment of committees, among other things,” Magogo stated. Among the amendments passed during
the assembly was making the regional chairmen direct delegates to the FUFA assembly rather than before where regional delegates were elected separately. This had brought confusion in roles and protocol between the chairmen and delegates. The other contention was the reduction of Big league delegates from seven to five. Police FC and Mbarara City CEO also raised concerned by were undone by procedure and they could not be heard. “We sent convocations a month ago and every member had to send in his query. henceforth passed. The bigger news perhaps came in the AOBs where Hassan Kavuma, a Buganda region delegate moved a motion to among others have the FUFA House renamed after current federation president Eng. Moses Magogo. “For all the good things (mentions some) Eng. Magogo has done for the game. I want to move a motion that the new FUFA complex be named after him as an appreciation by this assembly,” he moved. He was backed up by beach soccer delegate Deo Mutabazi and FUFA 3rd Vice president and minister of state for youths Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi. However, Magogo who is the assembly chairman guided that there was no procedure for the process however much it is good to
appreciate people that have done well for the game. “We do not want to do things which people may see as if we are pushing for selfish interests. This has been taken as a minute from this assembly and the executive will take it up to see how a standard procedure can be formulated,” said Magogo. The motion left divided opinions among the delegates. While many supported it, a good number was not in support. Two of European football’s greatest names face off on Wednesday as Ajax welcome Liverpool to the Johan Cruyff ArenA for their opening Champions League Group D encounter. The two clubs have lifted the famous trophy 10 times between them, but this will be the first time that they have gone head to head for 54 years. On that occasion Ajax ran out 7-3 winners on aggregate to reach the quarter-final, with Johan Cruyff - after whom the stadium where the two clubs will meet again is now named scoring three of Ajax’s goals. If the goal-laden start to the Premier League season is anything to go by, and given that Liverpool have already been involved in two 7-2 scorelines this term, Wednesday’s match alone may not be too far off that 10-goal tally. Liverpool go into the game looking to put a painful Merseyside derby experience behind them in every sense as
NEW EXPRESS FC signing Murushid Juuko has explained the reason which drove him to sign for the club in the ongoing transfer window. The Uganda international leftback was officially unveiled by the Red Eagles last Friday after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract, which ended speculation linking him to rivals Vipers SC and KCCA FC. “It’s no secret that the level of organization at the club is top class, as players we always want such environments to succeed and I couldn’t have made a better decision at the right time,”
they were denied a last-gasp victory over Everton by the tightest and most contentious VAR call yet. The two points that dubious decision cost Jurgen Klopp’s side would have been hard enough to take without also losing Virgil van Dijk to an ACL injury which could possibly keep him out for the remainder of the season - a result of a reckless challenge from Jordan Pickford which somehow went unpunished by the on-field referee, the VAR referee and the post-match disciplinary panel. Add to that injuries for Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip and there is no doubt that it was a damaging day for the champions, despite Klopp being happy with their performance away to the league leaders. Quite how Liverpool cope without Van Dijk is the question on everyone’s lips and, given that they have already conceded 16 goals in eight games across all competitions, it is a puzzle which Ajax will be looking to put to the test here. couldn’t do anything about the final result. It’s one game I cannot forget.” The former KCC FC star served under numerous coaches at the national side but he picked Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic currently with Zambia and a former SC Villa and Orlando Pirates coach - as the best he worked with. “Micho taught me to be the person I am today, he always pushed me, he understood Ugandan players better than anyone else,” he said. “He is one of the best coaches.” Wasswa hang up his boots after playing 75 games for Uganda since his debut in 2006.
