KATHERINE "KAT" TAYLOR PENNSYLVANIA

MY STATEMENT OF SUPPORT I have had the pleasure of knowing Barbara A. Cousar for over 20 years.  She is an initiate of my very own undergraduate chapter, Mu Kappa, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Through the years, I have come to know Barbara, affectionately known as Barb, to many in several capacities.

When I need honest, well respected, sound advice from a seasoned soror, Barb is the first number I dial. Her exemplary leadership speaks for itself as she has held numerous leadership positions in and outside of Zeta. However, what sets her apart is her genuine capability to provide ‘out of the box’ solutions proven to making paradigm shifts within our sorority.  She speaks for the heart of the those who may appear voiceless and inspires those to seek their own level of understanding and knowledge along the way.

Barb leads with tenacity. She commits to the road less traveled. Barb is not afraid to take a 'stand up for what is right’- which at times may be the least popular method and the road less traveled.  She speaks from experience and completes every single task assigned with passion. If there are aspects of an activity or project she is not well versed on, she will educate herself to gain a working level of knowledge up to and including mastering the skills needed to achieve the task.  Barb maintains an excellent working knowledge of parliamentary procedure and uses technology effortlessly to enhance her activities. She has earned not given been given the right to work for this sisterhood and to be elected to office on the national level.

My dear Sorors, Zeta needs a visionary, one who is fully committed and one who will be selfless in her service, a change agent, bold in her execution and lead this sorority into its 100th year and beyond. When I think of a soror who can achieve this and more, there is no one else I can think of other than Barbara A. Cousar, for International Graduate Member-At- Large.

Sorors, if you care about the future of Zeta, then you will stand beside and behind the visionary who consistently stands for what ‘is right’, Barbara A. Cousar.

In Sisterly Love,

Soror Katherine Taylor - Life Member Mu Kappa Chapter, Spring 1991 Gamma Alpha Beta Zeta - Charter Member, July 2017 Gamma Alpha Beta Zeta Basileus, July 2017-present

MY STATEMENT OF SUPPORT It has been my good fortune to have met Soror Barbara Cousar several years ago through a mutual friend who was a graduate student at Auburn University.  I was attending my professional association’s annual meeting and she came to the hotel to welcome me and other sorors to Philadelphia. It was apparent that she loved Zeta and all of its ideals.

We have stayed in touch over the years.  She has always been a woman to be admired and one to emulate.  She demonstrated to other young professionals in the sisterhood that she is a consummate finer woman, an example for others to follow.     She has made many and varied contributions to the Zeta at the local, state, regional and national levels. She exemplifies excellence in strategic planning, implementation and leadership skills.  She is a good listener. While we are in totally different professions, she helped me think through and plan a successful campaign to run for President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  I became the first African American to be elected to that body of over 100,000 professionals.

Barbara can get the job done as the International Graduate Member -At-Large!  She is an asset to our beloved organization.  I have been a Zeta for over 50 years.  I have been a Life Member for over 20 years.  I served as the Faculty Advisor and Charter Member of Gamma Xi Chapter at Auburn University.

I am pleased to highly recommend Soror Barbara Cousar for the position of International Graduate Member -At-Large.
