I would like to welcome students, colleagues, and parents to our weekly co-curricular activity update. This document will provide a weekly summary of all the opportunities available to our students, and the Wellington community. The document will be referred to as ‘The Directory’. Pop-Up events. Unique events that will occur during the week. The invitation for these will be on the front page of this weekly update. Clubs. When we return to school on 8th March, school clubs will resume. Pupils who did not sign up for clubs at the end of last term, should do so during Tutor Time on Monday 8th March. Feedback. I welcome feedback and ideas from the Wellington School Community. This Week’s Pop-Up Events 6th and 7th March – CyberFirst (Yrs 8 & 9) – Exciting opportunity for pupils studying Computer Science (sign-up required) Inspired and led by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a part of GCHQ, CyberFirst is a programme of opportunities helping young people explore their passion for computing and technology and introducing them to the fascinating world of cyber security. Each student course is designed to seek out young people with potential, offering the support, skills, experience and exposure they need to be the future first line of defence in our CyberFirst world. Cadenza (All) - Sunday 7th March 11am Cadenza is a weekly podcast featuring members and friends of the department sharing anecdotes about their lives as professional musicians. This week we feature April Anderson - contemporary vocal studies teacher at Wellington talking about her glamorous life as an entertainer on the Hull-Zeebruger ferry. Watch out - 11am Sunday morning on social media

Sunday 7th March – Teatime Senior Concert (All) Join the Wellington School Music Department for a concert, celebrating the musical talents of Wellington School pupils. Please contact Mr Trewhella for more details. The event will be streamed on the Music Vimeo Channel and via FaceBook.

Sunday 7th March – WPS – Back to School on Line Disco (All WPS) – 4-5pm The Friends of Wellington Prep School will be hosting a ‘Back to School’ Disco from 4-5pm. Children join each other on a Teams call and the dance anthems will be streamed over Welly Radio. A wonderful way to celebrate the end of Lockdown Learning!

Monday 8th March – 1pm – MedSoc -Life as a Medical Student & Genomic Medicine - Francesca Adams (Years 10,11,12,13) Francesca Adams will join the MedSoc for a talk about life as a Medical Student & Genomic Medicine. This will be followed by a Q&A session. Please contact Mrs MacAlister for further details.

Monday 8th March – 4pm – Chess Club (Years 7-13)

Please join Mr Wilson for his on-line Chess Club.

Wednesday 10th March 7pm – Lower School Cookery Club Join Mrs Shaw and the Lower School chefs for the evening ‘Supper Club’, You we be guided on how to make supper for your family!

Still available this week Short Essay Competition (Yrs 7-13) The title “Being environmentally friendly and considering animal welfare is a luxury of the middle class.” Prizes available. Please contact Mr Shaw for further details

Historic Buildings Sketchup Competition (Yrs 7-13) An exciting opportunity to challenge your Computer Aided Design skills. Springwatch (All) In Wellington School's Springwatch we are tracking the first appearances of signs of Spring. In particular, we are wanting to hear about sightings of our twenty target species and behaviours. Getting out into nature is good for your mental and physical health, so keep a look out on your daily walks and submit your sightings. It doesn't matter if someone has seen it before! Weekly Activities From Monday 8th March we will be running School Clubs. Pupils should sign up via SOCs
