WELCOME to PURE ESCAPISM 2022 Escapism? Escapism might not sound like the most sophisticated art theory or basis for art practice. But I believe that, in the best sense, it is. There is no shortage of misery around us at the moment and, if art can offer anything, it is most probably an antidote to that. Through colour and composition, it can remind us that there is a more ordered, tranquil and joyous world. And we all need a bit of that . So yes - escapism!
The Catalogue In the catalogue you will find all (or almost all) of my paintings that are currently available. There are still life pictures (mostly Italian food) at the beginning of the catalogue, further on abstracts and, towards the end, a collection of this year's landscape pictures. Dotted around you will also find the odd quirky picture that doesn't really fit any category. I hope you will enjoy browsing but there's nothing like the real thing and this year I am exhibiting in Wolvercote and then later in Adderbury. After two strange years, I am very much looking forward to welcoming visitors again and chatting about art.
Two Exhibitions For the first week of Artweeks I am back in Wolvercote in Jane Moser’s elegant house, overlooking Port Meadow, where we are being joined by a jeweller, Vicky Cumming. Then, in the third week of Artweeks, I am moving up to Adderbury to join Philip dove (stained glass) and Alison Morris (Jewellery) - both formerly of Wolvercote - to exhibit in their new home, a distinctive 18th century building on the southern edge of the village. Parking is on the Green and the venue is a two minute walk (map opposite). They are both wonderful exhibition venues and I very much hope that you will pop in to see us. And don't forget, if you are a previous customer, you get 10% discount off the wall price of the paintings.
