I am a Filipino: ABS-CBN’s Gabby Lopez III declares
ABS-CBN Corp. chairman emeritus Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III has asserted that he is a Filipino. “I will live, I will die in the Philippines,” Lopez told the House
of Representatives on Wednesday (June 3). “Frankly, the issue of being a dual citizen is not something I think about,” Lopez said. “I know in my heart that I am a Filipino and all my actions in the 35 years I’d been associated with ABS-CBN has been with the service of the Filipino in my mind,” he said. Lopez asked lawmakers to look at his record of service to Filipinos as he answered questions on his citizenship, which critics raised against the proposed fresh franchise for the network. Several lawmakers quizzed Lopez on his allegiance to the
Philippines due to his dual citizenship as a Filipino and American. The Philippine Constitution prohibits foreigners from owning media companies. It has been almost a month since the closure of ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN has said it has been bleeding between $597,000 and $697,500 in daily advertising revenue since the closure on May 5. Failure by Congress to approve the renewal application before it
rises for a two-month recess on June 6 could mean more financial losses, endangering the jobs of many of its 11,000 employees. Solicitor General Jose Calida has filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to void ABS-CBN’s previous franchise altogether. The court decision on that case is also pending. “I have been committed to the people of this country. It is a trust that has been passed on to me by my father and by his father before him. It is the trust that has
been given to me and in fact, I always tell our employees dito sa ABS-CBN po, it’s not just a job, it is a calling,” Lopez said. “So please if you are going to look beyond the technicality and talk about allegiance, please look at my record over the last 35 years po,” he added. Lopez was born in the US to parents who are both Philippine citizens. Lopez said he studied in the Philippines until high school and never had to swear allegiance to the US when he completed his college and postgraduate studies there. He said he had used a US passport before he applied for recognition of his Philippine citizenship in 2001 as a confirmatory act before the immigration bureau and justice department. Lopez said he never renounced his Filipino citizenship. Lopez said he had “considered” renouncing his US citizenship even though “it was never something that I felt was an issue in terms of any of my action,” he said. “If it came down to conflict of interest, I will give up my US citizenship in a minute,” he added. Lopez served in various positions for the country’s top broadcaster after the 1986 People Power revolution paved the way for its return to his family. He retired as chief executive when he turned 60 and as chairman at 65.

Five more Filipino films will be added to the list of available Pinoy movies on Netflix, set to premiere in June 2020. The Califonia-based online streaming site has teamed up with some of the country’s leading production studios such as Black Cap Pictures Changhe Films, ERJ Found Films, and Viva to give the global audience a new slate of locally-made films to celebrate Philippine Independence Day on June 12. “We are constantly amazed by the creativity of storytellers and the quality of talent coming out of the Philippines,” Netflix Content Acquisition Manager Raphael Phang said to the media on May 25, 2020. “Filipinos are avid entertainment fans, so at Netflix, we are committed to bringing the best stories locally and from
around the world to our members here.” Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairman and CEO Liza Diño expressed gladness with the Netflix move of helping the Filipino movies to reach a wider local and international audience. “With the world’s inevitable shift to digital platforms for content, it is reassuring that Netflix gives us a showcase of Filipino titles for more audiences and markets to have access to,” Diño said. “This growing slate of Filipino content on Netflix is a true reflection of the diversity of what Philippine Cinema has to offer. And Netflix giving space to more Filipino films is an affirmation that the Philippines has the potential of globalizing its local market.” Here are the movie trailers

KathNiel celebrateS anniversary Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla celebrated their eighth anniversary as sweethearts on May 26, which means they’re now the most durable young love team in local showbiz who really became an item in real life. What’s nice about the fans of the KathNiel love team is that they don’t just indulge in useless activities concerning their idols. Instead, to celebrate the eighth anniversary of KathNiel, they gave away food packs to homeless people in Manila. No less than the Manila Public Information Office acknowledged this in social media, saying: “Look: The KathNiel Fandom donated 400 food packs to the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).
The donation is intended for street dwellers sheltered by the MDSW at the Fugoso Sports Complex.” Their last movie, “The Hows of Us,” was made two years ago yet while their last soap, “Luna Sangre,” was three years ago. We know director Cathy Molina has a new romantic drama meant for them entitled “After Forever” but shooting this would have to wait until the pandemic is over. ABS-CBN also has a new soap for them, titled “Tanging Mahal,” but this, too, would have to wait until such time that the Kapamilya Network has gotten back its franchise renewal and returned to normal operations. *****

Kathryn, Nadine, Liza speak up vs anti-terror bill Kathryn Bernardo, Nadine Lustre, and Liza Soberano are among the high-profile stars lending their voice to a campaign against the anti-terrorism bill being pushed by the Duterte administration. The actresses — among the most visible and widely followed Filipino personalities on social media — each posted about the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020. Its proposed sweeping powers, including warrantless arrests and wiretapping of suspected terrorists, have alarmed rights groups, who fear even legitimate dissent against the administration may be targeted. “Please do not take away our voices, our basic human rights!” Soberano tweeted on Wednesday, linking to an information page about the measure and a petition against it. Lustre, in an Instagram Stories update on Wednesday, shared a post depicting the bill being put in a trash bin. Bernardo joined the growing chorus on Thursday, tweeting the hashtag, #JunkTerrorBillNow. Several other celebrities have similarly backed the campaign since Wednesday. The likes of Pia Wurtzbach, James Reid, Janine

FDCP’s Diño says no more crowd scenes, senior stars ‘discouraged’ from working On May 16, Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) released the Interim Guidelines for Film and Audiovisual Shoots as production was allowed to start in the country following the changes in the community quarantine classifications. FDCP head Liza Diño, in an interview with Arnold Clavio on DZBB yesterday, said the new normal will necessitate several changes, including the number of workers on set. “Hindi pwedeng lumampas sa 50,” she said. The production must ensure that there are zones for all departments to ensure physical distancing and that scenes involving a large number of people will be disallowed, she added. “Hindi pwedeng scenes that constitute mass gathering, party, rally, parade – bawal talaga,” she maintained. When it comes to scenes that will need actors to come into close contact, Diño said the explicit permission of the participants must be obtained. “For intimate scenes, they have to get the actors’ full consent,” Diño said.
Movie houses remain close during GCQ, said Diño, and there are safeguards that cinema owners would need to address first before cinemas reopen. But then, there is also the issue on the audiences’ confidence for the return of movie habits, she said. “Kailangan sanayin rin ang audiences to watch inside cinemas again,” said Diño, “It’s one thing to open but it’s another to make them feel comfortable.” When it comes to seniors, meaning movie workers aged 60 and above, they are “discouraged” from working. If it cannot be avoided that senior actors report to the set, Diño said that it is the producers’ responsibility “to create alternative work arrangement” for them. For displaced film workers, Dino said FDCP had a D.E.A.R. (Disaster Emergency Assistance and Relief) program that distributed P8000 to qualified freelance audiovisual workers. FDCP also extended help to members of the entertainment media such as writers, editors, reporters, and photographers under its DEAR Press program. (Malaya)
Vice Ganda calls on DOTr to address commuter woes: ‘Baka balak nyo silang pagmalasakitan’ Vice Ganda called on the government for action as he voiced concern for commuters who have had to struggle in their travels since the start of the general community quarantine (GCQ) on Monday, June 1. Although businesses have
been allowed to resume under the GCQ, public transportation such as trains and buses have reduced capacities to observe socialdistancing measures. This has left on commuters stranded roads waiting for a ride that would never come, with some walking several kilometers to get to their destinations. Only private vehicles, taxis and ride-hailing companies have been unrestricted because they can have cashless payments. However, these do not address the needs of lowincome workers who rely on mass transportation. Vice Ganda appealed to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on the situation of commuters via Twitter last night, June 2. “Hirap na hirap po ang mga commuters. At yan ay base sa aming obserbasyon (Commuters are facing so much
hardship. And that is based on our observation),” he wrote. “Sa dami po ng pinayagang lumabas at magsibalik sa trabaho ay kulang na kulang ang masasakyan. So mukhang may mali sa kalkulasyon,” he stated. (Rides are so limited with the number of people who were allowed to go out and return to work. It looks like there is something wrong in the calculation.) “Beke nemen po may mabuo sa inyong mga imahinasyon na epektibong solusyon,” he said. “Sana’y may mailabas na kayong impormasyon at aksyon dahil inyo pong obligasyon na maiayos ang sitwasyon. Kawawa po talaga ang populasyon.” (Maybe an effective solution can be formed in your imaginations. I hope you can produce information and action because it is your obligation to fix this situation. The population is so pitiful.) The comedian then drove home his point: “Sa madaling salita, WALA PONG MASAKYAN. ANO PONG PLANO NYO? BAKA BALAK NYO SILANG
PAGMALASAKITAN.” (In short, there is nothing to ride. What is your plan? Maybe you plan to show concern for them.) The DOTr added two more bus routes yesterday, June 2, to serve stranded workers. DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade also encouraged employers to provide shuttle services. (N.V. Guno, Inq/ ra)

Vilma leads Papal welcome Sa akin bilang artist, nagsisilbi si Pope Francis as inspiration,” Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto enthusiastically welcomes the Papal visit. She knows too well what the visit brings: “Bukod sa respeto sa religion, napakalawak ng pag-iisip at pang-unawa niya para subuking intindihin ang totoong buhay ng tao lalo na sa modernong panahon!” Pope Francis refuses to be garbed in princely garments and prefers common transportation to go to work to align himself with the common people. Such acts bring Catholics — including gays and pro-abortionists — into the fold of the Church. “Isa si Pope Francis na ehemplo ng pagpapakumbaba na dapat matularan sa aming industriya!” Gov. Vilma proclaims. Inspiration begets inspiration. This motivated visual artist Dante Hipolito to paint Gov. Vilma with Pope Francis in the 29” x 24” oil on canvas titled Salubong. A distinct style of vibrant rural realism, it follows Pope Francis’ didactic intentions. 'DQWHGLGWKLVE\UHGH¿QLQJDUWZKDWKH terms as Composite Realism, which is the VPRRWKLQWHUSOD\RI¿OPPDNLQJHOHPHQWVRI production design, photography and digital art based on his experience in stage production and advertising. Thus, he creates a distinctively exuberant depictions of country life on their basic principles. In an ambiance of rural peace and prosperity, Dante shows Gov. Vilma as a farmer leading stars (from left) Gary Valenciano, Sen. Grace Poe, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Coco Martin and Kris Aquino who are also costumed as country people in the festive welcome. Other entertainers are passionate about Pope Francis’ visit as well. Jamie Rivera praises his humility and compassion in her
song We Are All God’s Children. Rita Avila wrote the inspirational books The Invisible Wings and 8 Ways to Comfort with Grace and sent them as gifts to Pope Francis. Dingdong, on the other hand, believes Filipinos will also be brought closer to God by Pope Francis’ apostolic visit including himself, new wife Marian and, for that matter, all our entertainers. “Ibang klase siya. He brings with him
new hope with his understanding that Catholicism is not the Church but its faithful,” the actor reasons out. He goes on to explain what makes Pope Francis different: “Hindi doctrine ang gumagabay sa kanya kundi papaano ang doktrina nito ay maiintindihan ng tao at lalong maglalapit sa kanila sa Diyos at sa Kanyang Simbahan.” But Dingdong will not be able to witness
the visiting Pope’s activities because Marian and him will be on their honeymoon in Europe. “We know we’ll be blessed by him as he will bless all Filipinos,” he assures. For sure, Pope Francis’ visit has blessed us, bringing a new spirituality, even among entertainers. Perhaps, one of the most blessed in the country is Vic Sotto. “Dami kong blessings this year. Blessing ang maging senior citizen. May senior citizen card na ako. May 20-percent discount na ako sa restaurants. Libre akong makakapanood ng My Big Bossing sa Makati,” Vic shares. “Pero Eat, Bulaga! is my biggest blessing. Hindi biro ang abutin kami ng 36 years sa TV. But sa tingin ko, ang biggest blessing ay darating pa this year,” alluding to his of¿FLDOHQWU\WRWKH0HWUR0DQLOD)LOP Festival. But he twisted, “Ang magpasaya ng tao nitong Pasko is my biggest blessing.” Asked what blessing in 2015 he will seek from Pope Francis upon his arrival, he replied, “Wala na para sa akin. Sana i-bless niya ang mga biktima ng Supertyphoon Yolanda.” Believe it or not, even Robin Padilla, who is Muslim and who thinks of himself as D UHYROXWLRQDU\ LGHQWL¿HV ZLWK 3RSH )UDQcis. He thinks of the papal visit in positive terms, “Gustong-gusto ko siyang pumunta sa Pilipinas kasi he’s pro-poor at rebolusyonaryo.” Robin hopes, “Sana maimpluwensyahan niya ang mga politiko.” He is against the corruption brought about by capitalism, and many other actions and declarations not consistent with religious doctrines. As Pope Francis’ love is universal, our entertainers have claimed his blessing.( Edgar O. Cruz .PS)

Megan keeps herself busy on locdown
Megan Young says that due to the lockdown, they were able to sort out the thousands of photos taken during her and Mikael Daez’ two weddings, one in Tagaytay and one in Subic. She posted the ones she has chosen for public consumption online and netizens were so amused by the captions she and Mikael wrote with the photos. In one photo showing Me-
gan cutting their wedding cake, here’s what Mikael wrote: “I’m wondering, why was Boneezy (his pet name for Megan) so scared of cutting that delicious strawberry shortcake?? Maybe she realized that she was cutting away her freedom.” You can take a look at their other wedding photos in their vlog. Megan shares that the quar-
antine has made her more appreciative of even the little things around them while they stay in their condo. “When I need a boost of happy thoughts, I just think of all the ‘wins’ that I’ve had throughout the week – random things that made me happy during the week,” she said. For the first time, Megan also admitted that she got jealous of Andrea Torres when Mikael was doing one show after another with her. It will be recalled that Mikael and Andrea became successful as a love team for a while and they did several soaps. At that time, Mikael was already going steady with Megan, but they kept it secret. In their podcast as a couple called “Behind Relationship Goals,” Megan confessed that when Mikael was first paired with An-
drea in the afternoon series “Sana ay Ikaw na Nga,” she got jealous somehow when he said he took Andrea home after taping. “I was like, ‘Uh, what?’ Natigilan talaga ako. You made her hatid sa bahay niya? It’s cool because love team nga kayo, but what I’m worried about is what kind of thoughts are you putting in her head. I think Andrea was single at that time at baka isipin niya na may gusto ka nga sa kanya. I don’t want you to put these kinds of expectations in your love team.” Mikael explained that he just wanted to have a good working relationship with Andrea for their love team to succeed. Megan got his point and now, Andrea is one of their closest friends as a couple. As we all know, Andrea is now on with Derek Ramsay with whom she’s doing a new show, “Sanggang Dikit.” Megan, in turn, is doing a new drama with Dennis Trillo, “Legal Wives,” while Mikael is in “Love of My Life” and also appears with Dennis in “My Husband’s Lover” that is now being shown on primetime. Stars invade social media! Everyone is going online. Most stars now have their own social media account, vlog or youtube channels where they can communicate directly with the fans. Even top singers now just have their concerts online where they don’t earn anything as it’s for free. Honestly, we think being constantly present on the internet will just have a negative effect on their careers as they most certainly lose their mystique as celebrities. They used to be on a pedestal, hard to reach, but now they’ve become as common as any ordinary netizen who wants to get noticed online. They’ve also opened themselves up freely to everyone, especially to haters and bashers who just delight to annoy celebrities to give some excitement to their own boring lives. Because they made themselves accessible to every Tom, Dick and Harry, they give the chance even to strangers to treat them badly, binabastos
sila, o minumura sila just to annoy them. Another downside of this is people might no longer be interested to see them in movies where they have to pay, since they can now be seen online for free. Now, even the top networks also have their own shows online. We can understand ABSCBN if they currently use Facebook or YouTube as an outlet since their franchise has yet to be renewed. But GMA, their free TV channel GMA-7 is still very much active, but they now have so many shows online for GMA Artist Center with virtual entertainment through a series of online shows. GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) talents continue to interact with their fans via online shows like “#ArtistHideout,” ”Just In,” ”E-Date Mo Si Idol,” and ”Quiz Beh!” “#ArtistHideout” offers “PareKuys”, “Wednesday Coolitan,” and “Yummy Thursdays,” all hosted by comedian Tetay.

Sam and Catriona – showbiz’ newest dating couple
Actor and singer Sam Milby and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray are dating. Milby revealed their status on his Instagram account, posting a romantic photo with the beauty queen along with the caption, “Worth every second of the wait. Most special birthday yet.” The Filipino-American celebrated his 36th birthday on May 22 and uploaded the now viral IG post a day later. Hints that he and Gray are indeed dating surfaced during a special livestream event on Saturday dubbed, “Lunch with the Stars: Sam Milby Birthday Special.” Cornerstone Entertainment, Milby and Gray’s talent management group, mounted the online program, which had the actor’s friends sending their greetings via video. Co-artists John Prats and comedian Pooh hosted the birthday special and teased a visibly excited Milby when Gray’s video came up. The beauty queen simply said, “Hey, Sam! Happy, happy birthday. I hope that you have an amazing year ahead. More birthdays. More happiness. You are loved by so, so many,” but the celebrant’s reaction was a giveaway. “I’m kilig sa message, super kilig sa message. Hindi ko in-expect talaga na mag-message. Thank you. Yes, you are very special. Very special,” he effused. [“I’m thrilled by her message. I didn’t expect she’d give one.”] Milby and Gray first sparked dating rumors in late 2019 when their photos together circulated on social media. Gray denied them, however, in an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” in January this year. She said they were spending a lot of time together only because they went to the same church and had the same management company. “Friend naman siya,” Gray said then. Milby’s post, however — though not an outright confirmation they are officially a couple — shows their friendship is indeed blossoming. ***
Rez is Sylvia JM works on excited to MOWELFUND’s digital film ! new work again in president ‘Pamilya Ko’
JM de Guzman shot the digital film, “Love Lockdown,” while in quarantine.
The actor reunites with Angelica Panganiban, his co-star in the hit indie, “That Thing Called Tadhana,” in “Love Lockdown.” Sue Ramirez, Tony Labrusca, Kylie Versoza, Jake Cuenca and Arjo Atayde are also in the series, the first-of-its-kind digital full-length movie filmed in quarantine by the artists themselves – from their own homes. “Kaya we had to do our own makeup and prepare our wardrobe by ourselves,” revealed JM. “Bago ito sa aming lahat, but no choice kami.” The artists, in coordination with the directors, had to be their own stylists, production designers, and location managers, with the guidance of directors Andoy Ranay, Darnel Villaflor, Noel Escondo, and Emmanuel Palo. JM also got busy with his music. He just released the music video of his song, “Huling Liham.” The music video is directed by Cris Escolano. JM was in the cast of “Pamilya Ko,” the ABS-CBN soap that also starred Sylvia Sanchez, Joey Marquez and icon Perla Bautista, among others. Of course, the showing was cut because shooting had to be stopped. And also, because ABSCBN ceased operation following the cease and desist order issued by the NTC. “I miss all of them,” JM said of his co-stars. ***
Speaking of Sylvia Sanchez, the actress admitted she still gets chills remembering how she and husband Art Atayde had to contend with the dreaded COVID-19 virus. “Hanggang ngayon, takot pa akong lumapit sa mga anak ko dahil baka I still have the virus,” she confessed. “But of course, my and Art’s doctor has assured us na magaling na talaga kami.” Sylvia has always taken care of her family. She is not used to getting sick. She said it was prayers that sustained her. “Sabay kaming nagdarasal ni Art,” she confided. She admitted she misses work. “But, of course, when you are sick, getting well is the priority,” she added. She is looking forward to taping “Pamilya Ko” again. “The sooner, the better,” she said, smiling. ***

PBA vows to support government’s campaign vs Covid-19 The PBA will continue as partner of the government on its efforts to contain the effect of Covid 19 as well as help ease the suffering of the Filipino people brought about by the deadly virus. Thus declared PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial during a Senate hearing called by the Upper Chamber’s Finance Committee Chairman Juan Edgardo “Sonny “ Angara last Friday. Sen. Angara called the meeting among representatives of the private sector, including business, sports, etc. to determine what is necessary in order for the government to get a clear picture of what is needed to be done to keep businesses afloat despite the ongoing crisis. Angara said he and the group will try to review some of the programs rolled out under the Bayanihan We Heal as One Act. “We want to hear from representatives of the private sector about how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected their operations. What have they been doing to keep afloat during the lockdown and what have they done to help their employees,” Angara pointed
out. But instead of asking for help, Marcial simply expressed the PBA Board of Governors’ gratitude for having invited to air the league’s needs. Marcial gave members of Angara’s Committee and those in attendance the assurance that the PBA has been and will always be counted on as partners of the government in aiding the Filipino people. “Sa hirap na pinagdadaanan ng lahat ay nakakaraos pa rin naman po ang PBA,” Marcial told his audience. “What our board, headed by its chairman Ricky Vargas, would try to convey is kung may io-offer po kayong tulong ay doon na lang po ninyo iparating sana sa mas nangangailangan.” Marcial said. Marcial then mentioned what San Miguel Corp top honcho Ramon S. Ang, MVP Group chief Manny V. Pangilinan, NorthPort owner and House Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero and Phoenix Pulse owner and Presidential Adviser on Sports Dennis Uy have been doing to help Filipinos since the lockdown was declared.

Will NBA games continue without fans?
The NBA is finalizing details of a plan which is expected to be approved by the league’s Board of Governors on Thursday, paving the way for a return from the coronavirus shutdown. The board is poised to give the green light to commissioner Adam Silver’s return of basketball which would begin July 31 with a 22-team format, and end in mid-October with a champion being crowned, ESPN reported. The Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Nets and Orlando Magic currently hold the playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies occupy the postseason positions in the Western Conference. Under the plan, each of the 22 teams will play eight regular-season games for seeding purposes for the postseason.
The 16 teams currently in the playoff picture will be joined by the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference. In the East, the Washington Wizards are also included. All games are expected to be within the confines of Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando Florida, with all teams remaining on site to minimise risk of COVID-19 outbreaks. The league wants to have daily testing and if a player tests positive he would be isolated and quarantined. The others would carry on playing while still being tested on a daily basis. The regular season was halted abruptly after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive. Gobert, of France, was given the allclear about two weeks later. So far, less than a dozen NBA players have been confirmed as testing positive for the coronavirus although not all have been identified. (abs-cbn sports news/AF)

How ‘MMK’ served as Maja Salvador’s training ground in drama Bawal ka magkamali, dapat alam mo linya mo, dapat lahat ng bilin ng director, dapat alam mo,” she said. Salvador said she was very fortunate because Roño, as well as her co-star Kris Aquino, were very patient with her as they filmed “Sukob.” “Grabe ‘yung patience ni direk Chito kasi nga alam naman niya na first time ko, pati si tita Kris grabe ‘yung pasensya nila sa akin. Naitatawid naman. Mga hanggang nakakatake two naman ako noon. ‘Yun ‘yung experience ko sa una kong pelikula,” she said. Nonetheless, Salvador said it’s good for her to feel nervous every time she begins a project because that motivates her to
step up her game. “Sa lahat ng gagawin na project, mapa-pelikula or teleserye, maganda naman kung hindi nawawala ‘yung kaba mo kasi importante ‘yung kaba na ‘yun eh. Minsan dun tayo humuhugot sa kung ano ang mga emosyon na kailangan,” she said. #ExtendTheLove is an initiative to help displaced film workers that are affected by the lockdown because of the pandemic. It started by screening films online and then through live sessions related to film. Actors’ Cue is an online session where actors talk about their work and passion. (abs-cbn news) ******

Maja Salvador considers “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK) as her training ground before she actually realized her passion for acting. Speaking during a special edition of Actor’s Cue to the #ExtendTheLove initiative, Salvador said it was when she was given dramatic roles for the ABS-CBN anthology that she started to hone her craft. “From ‘It Might Be You’ to ‘Spirits,’ grabe ako ipa-workshop ng Star Magic. Kasi sa mga productions naman sasabihin nila kung okay ba ‘yung artista or hindi or kung kailangan pa niya i-improve ‘yung acting niya. ‘Yun naman ang maganda sa Star Magic. Halos thrice a week ako nagwo-workshop nu’n,” she recalled. “Tapos after nu’n, nung may mga ‘MMK’ na ako na guesting, doon ko na grinab ‘yung opportunity. Kasi kapag ‘MMK’ parang doon ka any time puwede mana-
lo ng award. Parang lahat ng mga kuwento nila ang bigat,” she added. Salvador said she will always look back at her experience working in various episodes of “MMK” because it was there where she was able to showcase her acting skills. nag-wo-workshop “Kapag ako, ang gusto ko lagi i-achieve ‘yung magaling ako umiyak. Tapos nung nag ‘MMK’ ako with Ms. Vilma Santos directed by direk Olive (Lamasan), talagang doon ko naisip na ito na ‘yung opportunity para maipakita na mahal ko ‘yung trabaho ko, hindi lang pera pera,” she said. Meanwhile, Salvador also looked back at the very first movie she did under the helm of Chito Roño. “Na-shock ako kasi ibang-iba kung paano mag-taping sa mga teleserye at kung paano magshooting.
