WELCOME—We are glad you joined us today! This morning continues our sermon series: The Good Life.
We talk a lot about community here at Double Oak and for good reason. Christ has made us to live and grow together as believers. There’s no such thing as being OK by yourself. It’s literally impossible in the Kingdom of God, which is why we encourage every single person at Double Oak to be in a community group. And most of you are! Between 60% and 70% of you are in community groups each week. And if we look at how many of you are there sometime in a month, the number is even higher! So, if you’re not in a community group you’re in a shrinking minority. But that can change easier than you think. Three new community groups have recently started. New groups are great because everyone starts out at the same level. You don’t have to worry that everyone already seems to know everyone else because you know they don’t. And instead of feeling like you’re a latecomer to the group you get to be a pioneer! You can be a part of making a brand new group happen here at Double Oak! If you’re in the 8 am or 9:30 am services then you can actually attend one of these groups TODAY! Don’t wait. Don’t think about it. Don’t put it off—again. Today is the day. Just go! You’ll be glad you did. If you’re in the 11 am then next week is your week. Grab some info at Connection Point, plan next Sunday accordingly, and be here earlier. All of our adult community groups are open to you right now so pick one we already have or join one of our new groups. But don’t wait till next year. The new groups are happening NOW!!!! And there’s a place for you. Community is the main way Christ helps us to grow in Him as believers. So don’t miss out any longer. STUDENT WINTER RETREAT • REGISTER NOW Winter Retreat is an opportunity for our students (6th-12th grade) and leaders to pull away from the craziness of everyday life and dig deep into the Word. It is always an amazing few days of fellowship, community, worship and growth. Our theme this year is “Authentic” and we couldn’t be more excited about taking a look at what living authentically is. Registration for Winter Retreat begins today! In order to guarantee that your child gets his or her desired t-shirt size, they must be registered by Dec. 11. The retreat will be Dec. 29-Jan. 1 at Shocco Springs. The cost is $175 per person. Our speaker will be Chad Poe and our worship leader will be The Museum. REGISTER ONLINE: doubleoakcc.org/winterretreat MISSION TRIPS • VISIT HONDURAS MISSIONARIES TODAY Every year, Double Oak Community Church gives 10% of our yearly budget to Missions. However, we give above and beyond this amount each year through special giving (like Give United and benevolence) and through the giving of our time and gifts. One way to give of your time and gifts is to commit to go on a Mission Trip in 2017. As you begin to plan your calendar for 2017, will you consider the impact you can have on the Kingdom by going on one of the Mission Trips listed in today’s insert? One of the great mission opportunities for this upcoming year is a trip to Honduras in June 2017. Today, we are excited to welcome two missionaries that we financially support in Honduras, Jeff and Leslie Vanvactor. Take a moment after church and greet them at Connection Point. If you have questions about Honduras or any of our upcoming trips (including concerns about funding), contact Mike Lindsey at [email protected] or visit our website at doubleoakcc.org/missiontrips.
